Do you watch what you receive in a trade or just add it to your list of shows? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

I always been a trader who watches everything I receive because I don;t want to pass on bad quality to other traders. I see a lot of traders never watch what they receive, they just pass it along to other traders without knowing there are problems with the Quality. If anything I'm requesting it's because I want to WATCH IT, not add it to my collection so I can win an award for the Trader with the BIGGEST TV COLLECTION. So thats what's pissing me off with certain traders is they don;t watch and make sure nothing is wrong with the quality, just send to someone else so they can expand their TV collection. Any other trader WATCH what they receive?

I only collect favorites that I want to watch, so there are only about 25 series in my collection. I am not trying to build up a big collection of stuff that I will never watch, so I have a hard time finding stuff from other people's lists. I have some rare stuff, like the complete run of Peyton Place, that I am willing to trade, but if they only want the whole series at once (129 DVDs), I can't find enough that I want from their lists.

I do try to check my discs before actually trading them off, but I could never watch everything I have, even if my life depended upon it. We don't have cable and will never get cable, so trading is the only way that I can obtain shows, without paying through the nose at Walmart.

I don't trade for just myself specifically but for family and friends, as well as future grandchildren.

I have thought for a long time now that trading will become eventually illegal, and once that happens, I'm done. I will not trade underground or on the sly as I would not want to be in a position where I would need to lie in order to preserve my collection.

I too only collect things that I want, and intend, to watch, I do not trade for things that don't personally interest me just for the sake of growing my collection. But it would be impossible to actually watch everything before adding it to the list as I usually trade in 25-50 disc lots. That said, I will check out everything I get, make sure it looks okay and plays through, before adding it to my list.

So that means it can be some glitches on some eps that you dont know about because of how many Discs you trade for at a Time.

That is very wise, but you'll find that the larger your collection the less likely you'll do that.

Even if there is a show that I haven't watched yet on my site, like Brady Brides, if someone ever requested it, even do it may be painful, i will watch all the eps before I ship out.

That's what I say, but some traders just collect stuff so they can expand their collection insteadof watching the shows.

Why do you have the Brady Brides if they'd be painful to watch?

It is not a function of how many discs I trade for at a time, it is a matter of putting time to good use. If there are any major, or recurring, problems, I will find out about them when I check the discs. If I miss a 2 second glitch, who cares? It's not worth spending an hour to find a 2 second glitch that may or may not (most likely) exist. A person would need to have plenty of time on their hands to consider that a worthwhile endeavour.
