How do you guys think the show ended? I absolutely loved it. I think that this was the best ending for the show because everything worked out for everybody. Everybody's dreams came true.

We had a thread abt this topic abt three months ago. It seems the majority would have liked to see something else. My opinion, that I gave then was it would have been nice to see a two-parter, even a three-parter so that everything isn't soooo rushed. It would have been good to see Florida end the show by walking over to the Jesus pic on the wall (that used to be there) and say thank you to Jesus for guiding them and watching over them and blessing them with all their dreams. It would have been nice to see a snippet of the house they were moving into. Also, see how JJ got the cartoon deal.

Going by the amount of Keith's Football Salary($60,000), You can tell that was the year of 1979-lol

I thought it was a good final episode. I got no complaints about it. I loved how it ended.

That episode was too rushed. Florida didn't receive any kind luck except for moving in with Thelma and Keith. And Willona just happen to move into the same building.

Florida should've hit the lottery or something, but that would've been a little too much.

The weirdest thing about that Finale was J.J saying he was offered a job as a cartoonist and will be making lots of money and will be getting his own place and Florida then says-"J.J why?-lol

Notice during the end credits of the show they don't show the fade out of the city, instead they repeat the scenes of the three girls from the playground and the dude riding the bike.

Yeah, I know...just an opportunity for a sexual comment to be made by JJ for laughs...Boom Boom Belinda, etc. Did Florida expect JJ to live with her until he got married? I guess she did.

This sounds like a decent way to end the show, bring it full circle. Besides they had 2 and 4 part shows for other situations. Also, judging from the way the show was reran in syndication I don't think End of the Rainbow was the last show they produced. That would seem to be JJ and TC, an episode in which Esther Rolle doesn;t een appear. Maybe they wrote into her contract that she would only be in a certain # of shows and they didn't want to shell out extra $$$ to have her be in a 2 part finale.

All in all I'm glad the show had a resolution since back in 1979 it was very rare for a series to have a final wrap up show. Lots of shows just stayed on until viewers lost interest and they got canned. At least we got to see the family get out of the ghetto.

i seem to recall reading abt that also, the finale not really being the finale...i can't recall in the original airings what happened.

If Michael Evans was 16 at the time of the finale, how could he move to a college dormitory at an early age? Most people normally go to college at age 18. Did Michael even attend high school?

I myself would've liked the finale to be stretched out over at least two episodes, but at least GT got a legitimate finale. Even shows like Bewitched and the Jeffersons can't claim that.
