Default Is This The Last Season Of "Smallville??"

Just read in TV Guide that this could possibly be the last season of Smallville. I'd hate to see it go, but on the other hand, it would go out on top creatively. Too many shows stay past their welcome these days and it would be nice to see at least one go out while it's still got some gas.

Just from the way the story's unfolded over the years, I would say that the show should run one or two more seasons. Anything further than that, and they'll have to abandon the "no tights, no flights" edict. Though, Clark actually has flown, so one out of two aint bad.

I was considering starting something like this. I'm worried that this could be the last season since things seem to be coming to an end with Lex starting to go evil and all. I have heared different things about when the show will end. I have heared anywhere from 0 to 2 seasons after this one.

I thought with the move to Thursday that this could be the last season but the ratings have been pretty good so I think it will be back for another season or two.

No one can determine if this is the last season for sure yet or not, it all depends on if the ratings stay good this season, cause we know the WB likes to ax shows without warning(like Angel)

I don't like how it depends on the ratings. It should depend on when the story line comes to an end.

In a perfect world, yes. But show business is just that, a business. Ratings determine how much money they can draw in from advertisers and money is what drives the bottom line in business. From a story point of view, the most I could see is maybe a sixth season before the tone and setting of the show would have to change.

My fear is that with the Superman feature film slated for next Summer, the powers that be will force "Smallville" off the air so that the public will focus on "Superman Returns" or whatever that stupid movie will be called.

True. It just seems like this show has to wait until he becomes superman. Most shows can make a final plot and come to an end. I guess they can speed things up though if they have to come to an end. It really seems like they're speeding things up this season.

Supposedly, the motto of the creators for this series was "no flights, no tights." Well, they've violated the flights thing by having Clark fly on a few occasions, though not in spandex.

Of course, the show is doing well both creatively and in the ratings, so I think it's likely they'll try to at least get another season out of it. They'll just have to find a way to stretch out his being just Clark a little longer, I guess.

I think it will be back. The WB likes to milk their shows for all their worth too. It's a very popular show, so I don't see it going anywhere anytime soon.

He's not quite ready for the Daily Planet anytime soon, so I don't think he's close to being Superman either. Clark Kent still has a lot of growing up to do and figuring out who he is. The show has a lot to work with, it'll be fine.

I think if it was ending we'd know by now.Like we do with 7th heaven and no I don't watch 7th Heaven but I see it advertised while watching other WB shows.

It was also announced today The West Wing is going too so I think if Smallville was ending we'd know by now. They'd be counting down until the end like 7th Heaven.

According to an interview with the producer on today's TV Guide online website,
he is still waiting for the network's decision.

It will most likely be back if ratings don't take a nosedive after the 100th. The 100th better not be a let down or they'll lose ratings big time.

I just read that Smallville is experiencing a resurgence or all-time height of popularity in its Thursday night slot, so I wouldn't expect to see it going off the air anytime soon.

At least not this season, anyway.
