Default Carl and Florida's Wedding was supposed to be the First episode of Season 5

I read the wedding was going to open season 5 in a Aprill 1977 Edition of Jet. So it looks like Rolle decision to leave the show was probably in May or June. Can anyone close their eyes and picture Florida in a Wedding dress?-lol I can;t. I think the show could have lasted until 1981 if Carl and Florida came back in the fall of 1977.

It would have made for some interesting story lines and opened up some better ideas than they had in season 5.

Exactly, we would have never seen Penny and probably Frank Mason too.

I disagree....I think we still would've seen Penny and Frank and more of Booger...lol

Season 5 would've been awesome if they dealt with relationship issues between Florida and Carl, Carl adjusting to the family and the household's well-oiled machine, Carl's health with Bookman giving advice (since they were able to remove his cancer), Willona dealing with Penny's emotional problems, and Penny becoming a bad girl.

At least 10 good episodes right there.....

Penny was only added because Esther Rolle left the show. So will proably would have seen Frank, but defintely not Penny

I actually agree with you Solomon. The reason why Penny was added was because Ja'net Dubois was elevated to a main character and they needed something for her to do.
