Default Your favorite books of The Bible??

My favorite books of The Bible would probably have to be the four Gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. No matter how many times I read them, I never get tired of them. My favorite parts are Jesus' Sermon On The Mount, and His Parables. My favorite Old Testament books are Genesis, and the book of Job. I like reading Genesis, because I enjoy seeing how the world got started according to the Jewish, and Christian beliefs. The book of Job is cool, because it gives me comfort when I'm going through tough times. It makes me realize that if Job can get through what he went through, then I can certainly get through whatever I'm going through. It's also good because it shows God's great love, and forgiveness for mankind. How even after Job bad mouthed Him, and doubted His love, He was still able to forgive Job. I find that to be incredibly touching!! Anyway, I'm not looking to start some debate on religion, I'm simply wondering, for those of you who have read the Bible, or who read it on a regular basis, what are your favorite books, and why??

I agree, the story of Abraham is really good. Another Genesis story I really enjoy is the story of Joseph and his brothers, and how out of jealousy, they sold him into slavery to the Ishmaelites. It's amazing to me how after all that his brothers put him through, he was able to forgive them so easily. That's another Bible story I find touching.

My favorite book is Esther. I sometimes read out of Esther during church if I think the sermon is boring

Ha ha ha!! I'm glad I'm not the only one who's been bored at Church!! Anyway, I heard that there's some movie coming out that's based on the book of Esther. I think the movie was done by one of those religious channels. I haven't gotten much information about it, but it's something you might be interested in checking out.

Job. Because it shows a good man at the lowest depths of his depression where he demands God answer him as to why he has so many troubles--and how God replies.

I agree!! I think anyone who's going through tough times, and is asking the question why, should read the book of Job. It gives us an idea of why God sometimes allows us to go through hard times, and makes us see that things could be much worse.

Oh, I LOVE Genesis . I especially love the kick ass part where Jacob works so hard(seven years) for his uncle so that he can marry his UNCLE"S DAUGHTER. You heard me. Then, on the wedding night, his uncle makes his older daughter marry Jacob(Jacob wants the younger sister). (The older sister was switched for the younger sister(you have to read the story). When Jacob found out what his unle had done, he was mad, but agreed to work seven more years for the younger sister. Fourteen years working so he can marry the same girl. They finally did get married, but Jacob was still married to the older sister. So he was married to to sisters at the same time. Tell me this story isn't some drama. Imagine if this were on the WB or a reality sitcom! This guy marries two of his first cousins! His uncle is his mother's brother. And Jacob and his two wives/cousins had children together! I wonder why those kids didn't become handicapped. I wonder how the kids felt knowing that their parents are both their second cousins AND parents and knowing that THEIR OWN(the kids) were both siblings and cousins!
