What Brand? I use an ATI AIW 9700 Pro and using the settings from digitalfaq.com things always come out top notch.

If yours is not an ATI you may need to go to dvdrhelp.com and look up your specific card there to see what people use for settings.

What is your set up right now?

You can get a cheap AIW capture card on ebay for like $35.00 I have the AIW 9200 in another computer and it captures great. I have heard bad things about the 8500 series of cards, but the older 7500 cards are ok.

your computer is plenty fast. I would say it is the onboard video. Personally I would suggest spending the money on an AIW card, IF you are a gamer I would suggest an AIW 9700 Pro, these can be had for aaround 100 and they are great cards for both video capture or gaming. If you are not into gaming I would suggest the AIW 9200 series for around $35-$45. Follow the instructions on Lordsmurfs site: digitalfaq.com and you will be very pleased with the results.

Probably your best bet is one of the Hauppauge cards. You can read reviews here:
