Any show after the second, lame Becky came on. Never mind my attraction to the original Becky, the 2nd one couldn't act for @#$%!

Also when Rosanne got that face lift, that was right around when the show's comedy was getting lame, with 2nd rate humor.

At least Dan (John Goodman) kept the show going.

LEAST FAVORITE EPISODES BY SEASON:

Season 1 --Hmm, this is the one I am most unfamiliar with, so I can't pick any.

Season 2--arnie kisses roseanne. Runners-up: That stupid dream sequence episode where she kills her family.
Also, the one where roseanne and dan are not having enough sex.

Season 3--when dan has dreams about that woman in the mall. Runner-up: when Ziggy comes back in town.

Season 4--when they go see wayne newton in las vagas. Runner-up: Actually, there is none. I think it was the most consistent, although not the funniest, season this show ever had.

Season 5--Loretta Lynn makes a cameo in the diner. Runners-up: Fischer is DJ's hockey coach (boring), the halloween episode with the ghosts of halloween past present and future, the one where dan and roseanne have their 20th anniversary and roseanne gets her photos taken, and the one where roseanne takes a self-defense class after the scary incident at the diner. Otherwise, this was easily the best season of the show.

Season 6--the last episode of the season when jackie gets married and fred is jealous of dan. that one was so poorly written. Runner-up: the episode where roseanne fantasizes about those soap opera men. This could have been the best season, but there were moments when the humor felt strained and forced, like when jackie tells fred she's slept with 60 men, or scenes when roseanne is talking about how much she wants a new baby. That whole plotline kind of sucked.

Season 7--Becky and mark move into a trailer park (that one feel flat on its ass). Runners-up: the one where dan gets darlene to come home to make up with becky, and they end up fighting the whole time while jackie tells roseanne that she's annoyed by dj's visits. Also, the one where dan and roseanne are waiting all day to find out if the baby is okay.

Season 8--Man, where do I start? This one was so bad. First and foremost, the job where david gets a job at an amusement park was the absolute worst, as were the jerry garcia halloween episode and the disney world episode. So, I have to put all three in the same #1 spot, cause they all equally sucked., although I kind of liked Roseanne's speech about "my america" when she rescued david from the amusement park. Runners-up--Jackie and Roseanne fight over a box of old toys, Jackie yells at roseanne for feeding her kid an oreo, and oh(!), let's not forget the one where jackie and bev fight over their dance instructor. This season was so bad. But as we all know, it couldn't possibly have been the worst final season possible, as we were all about to find out later on.

Season 9--This season could have been great. I actually really like the idea of them winning the lottery b/c it was fodder for some potentially good writing. BUT, each episode cost $3.5 million dollars, and about a third of that was going to its star. Take into account the salaries for the rest of the cast, as well as the celebrity guest appearances, and you're left with having to hire some 3rd rate writers. They couldn't have exceeded this budget because the show wasn't making as much money as it used to, thanks to the lazy piece of work that was the 8th season, which really hurt the ratings. So, they just hired hack writers and hoped nobody would notice the difference.

Anyway, where was I?

Oh yea, the worst of the absolute worst was the "roseambo" episode where she fights terrorist on the train. worst. episode. ever. Runners-up: the one where they spend the weekend in cape cod with that family, the one where roseanne is driving around aimlessly all day because she's upset about dan's little affair.

Most Favorite episodes in each season

Season 1-- the salesman dies in the kitchen. Runner-up: the connors have dinner with the parents of becky's boyfriend.

Season 2-- the "tax-day" episode where they deal with the irs.
Runners-up: roseanne gets hit by her ex-boss, roseanne gets a job at the hair salon, becky cuts the cheese in school, becky guts drunk. classic.

Season 3--Arnie uses the money that Dan lent him to get Nancy a boobjob. Runners-up: Becky is in trouble for flippin the bird in a school picture, roseanne has pms.

Season 4--The one where they're filming a commerical at Rodbell's (really clever). Runners-up: Thanksgiving episode where bev announces her husbands affair. The Connors don't realize that their neighbor's house is getting robbed, and even end up buying something from the robbers. Also, Roseanne becomes Santa at the mall, roseanne and jackie re-visit their childhood home.

Season 5--Darlene and Molly go to a concert. Runners-up: Roseanne's father dies, David moves in, fischer beats up jackie.

Season 6--they find a stash of pot. Runners-up: DJ starts masturbating, the thanksgiving episode where nana mary revealed that bev got married when she was pregnant, dan finds out that david had been living with darlene the whole time, fred sues for custody, jackie has the baby. Overall, an excellent season. The new becky put no dent in the humor.

Season 7--Bev is an alcoholic. Runners-up: david tells roseanne of darlene's drug use, david starts spying on darlene with her new boyfriend, the "girl talk" episode where everyone switches gender roles in the closing scene.

Season 8--darlene gives up a good-paying job. Runners-up: the "50's show" parody and the gay wedding, which were both kind of lame, but I don't have a hell of alot to choose from.

Season 9--The actual episode where all the connors find out they won the lottery. It was friggin hilarious. Roseanne piggy-back rides dan in her bra. Runners-up: the christmas episode where dan comes home, the thanksgiving episode was somewhat tolerable. I think that's about it.

My least favourite episodes

Season 1 - We're In The Money - The audience was pumped but the jokes fell sooooo flat, this show was not funny. I read in Roseanne's autobiography that after one of the episodes Matt Williams called every actor into his office and verbally abused them for such a poor show, this must have been it.

Season 2 - Happy Birthday was pretty boring but still enjoyable

Season 3 - If I had to pick one Pied Piper Of Lanford - again pretty boring

Season 4 - the bowling show - This season wasn't entirely funny but had some great shows.

Season 5 - Of Ice And Men - not much happened

Season 6 - Don't Make Room For Daddy - I thought it ended poorly with Jackie being so upset and angry with Fred and then sleeping with him because of what david said about men being jealous about not being able to have children, no wonder the marriage failed.

Season 7 - Sherwood Schwartz: A Loving Tribute - What a horrible episode. Not funny and so poorly written.

Season 8 - Shower The People You Love With Stuff - although I could have picked any episode, Roseanne's acting is a bit off as well, as if she doesn't want to be there anymore and Lecy's big return mounted to four episodes.

Season 9 - The Truth Be Told - again i could have picked one at random. i understand Roseanne was setting the season up for the last episode and her explanation at the end made the rest of the season make sense but it wasn't funny. If it had been funny I wouldn't have minded the strange storylines.

In saying that I do have favourites from each season

Season 1 - Life And Stuff - Classic Roseanne, although it says Matt Williams wrote this you can tell a lot of it comes straight from Roseanne's stand up routine (she was, in other words ripped off)

Season 2 - Little Sister - Joss Whedon is a brilliant writer, he understands relationships and nails Jackie/Roseanne and Darlene/Becky on the head with this one. Love the dinner scene. "Ouch You Sexy Thing"

Season 3 - Like a Virgin - Sex talk was always well done on this show and this episode is no exception.

Season 4 - The Commercial Show / Therapy - Just to see Darlene in a dress and pigtails is worth watching this over and over, also Jackie and Roseanne in Therapy bonus

Season 5 - Ladies' Choice / The Dark Ages - The Dark Ages cracks me up every time especially the scene where Darlene announces she can hear Roseanne and Dan having sex. Ladies' Choice is another good one.

Jackie: What about all those singles dances we went to to together?

Nancy: Singles dances, I thought we we're dating

Season 6 - Homeward Bound - Classic

Season 7 - Girl Talk

Season 8 - Another Mouth To Shut Up

Season 9 - Millions From Heaven / Into That Goodnight (Parts 1&2)

Season 9 was only better because Roseanne seemed interested in the show again and unlike season 8 looked like she wanted to be there doing it each week.

In conclusion this would have to be one of the best sitcoms around, I have never seen a family portrayed so acruately as i did in this amazing sitcom. It changed the way we view families on tv and changed the whole formula of how sitcoms are made.

I have a lot of least favorite episodes, most from the 9th season. The whole Cape Cod and the episode where Roseanne starts seeing that Wellman guy sucks. One of my favorites is the end of that one episode where Jackie finds out they won the lottery and then the next episode where she goes to Roseanne to spread the news. Also, I like most every episode from the 4th, 5th, and 6th season, then the show started to go downhill, quickly.

I think one of the above posters hit the nail right on the head. Season 9 did have some good ideas, many good ideas, but so many were too poorly executed. The lottery season could have been fantastic, and there were a few episodes that were great, but in the middle, the bottom fell out of it. The Christmas episode, the Cape Cod episode, the episodes where Roseanne goes out with the Welman guy- they were unwatchable.

I kind of like Roseambo. It's so bizzare and strange and oddly funny. I think it's the pinncale of how far this series fell in its 9th season.

The Ab Fab episode was strange, but I thought it was funny. It probably would have been viewed in a much better light had it aired on another series- it seemed to me like something that "The Nanny" would do. "Millions From Heaven" was funny, as was the next episode and I did like the spa episode for pure laugh-out-loud-ness. Again, another episode that would have fared alot better on another series.

In retrospect, I don't think that the 9th season was that bad, really. Had it been the last season for another series, people wouldn't have been so hard on it. But for "Roseanne," the 9th season was a difficult and strained send-off to a once fantastic, great series

My least favorite...

Season 1-The one where Roseanne quits her job in the factory, I liked it at first but everytime I see it now I just turn it off because some parts for me are boring.

Season 2-Lobocop, I nearly fall asleep while watching this episode. It's such a gloomy episode.

Season 3-Home Ec, I thought some parts were good but I didn't like a lot of it. From the shopping part and on is when I didn't like it.

Season 4-The Bowling Show, spent to much time on the Crosby guy. I just didn't really like this plot either.

Season 5-the Halloween episode was ok but not as much as I like other episodes.

Season 6-The one where Jackie fights with Fred, then he shaves his beard for her and proposes to her. I didn't really like the one where Bev hurt herself having sex either.

Season 7-Nine Is Enough, parts of it were funny like when Dan and Roseanne try to fool around but David is in the bathroom throwing up. But I didn't like the rest and how Becky wanted to have kids blah blah.

Season 8-Ballroom Blitz, horrible horrible. A mother and daughter fighting over the same guy?

Season 9-Someday My Prince Will Come, this is really not likely to happen on Roseanne. A prince falls in love with Jackie!

Favorites...

Season 1-Nightmare on Oak Street, Bridge Over Troubled Sonny, Canoga Time.

Season 2-Inherit the Wind, No Talking, An Officer and A Gentleman, One for the Road.

Season 3-The Test, Dream Lover, Dances With Darlene, and Valentine's Day.

Season 4-The Test, Thanksgiving 1991, This Old House, Santa Claus, Aliens, Why Jackie Becomes a Trucker

Season 5-Terms of Estrangement 1 and 2, Good Girls Bad Girls, Dark Ages, and Wait till your father gets home.

Season 6-I pray my lord my stove to keep

Season 7-Sleeper , snoop davey dave, the clip show: All About
Rosie.

Season 8-Shower the people you love with stuff, Becky Howser MD, the Wedding, Heart and soul, Fights and stuff

Season 9-Home where the afghan is, Hit the Road Jack, the War Room, Into that Good Night 1 and 2

My least favorite episode is the one where David works at the amusement park, the writing was absolutely awful for that one, and it would have been a lot easier to understand the whole anti-coporate theme park thing if they hadn't whored themselves out to having such a good time in Disneyland.

The episode in the 9th season where Roseanne saves everyone on the train. I didn't laugh one time during that episode.
