It appears that WWE and UFC announcer Mike Goldberg have come to an agreement more or less to make Goldberg the new RAW head announcer. Goldberg has not signed a contract yet but has apparently been offered "insane" money and has told UFC that he plans to sign.
Goldberg has virtually zero knowledge or past interest in pro-wrestling. Right now, he is considered a legit "sports announcer." That will likely change if he goes to WWE since it is hard to get work in sports once you are labeled as a wrestling announcer. As for when Goldberg will replace Jim Ross, WWE apparently wants to make the switch right away. If he signs before this Monday, he could work RAW this Monday or next Monday. Jim Ross will be moved to WWE.com where he will announce RAW and possibly Velocity and Heat. WWE will likely promote the move as a way to get people to view WWE.com broadcasts, but it appears to be a way to phase Ross out. from http://www.wrestlingobserver.com |

That would suck! It'll probably be worse than when Paul Heyman took over for Jerry "The King" Lawler

Yeah, I think that's a pretty crappy move on the WWE's part. If you're going to get rid of anybody, get rid of Coach. Replacing Jim Ross, who is basically a walking, talking, wrestling encyclopedia, for someone who knows very little, if anything about the sport, is foolish!! If they make this move, I hope their ratings tank. Nobody wants to see someone without any wrestling knowledge calling matches.

There will be a HUGE backlash if this happens. JR is beloved by many WWE fans. I think they were planting the seeds for this to happen when Vince was interviewed after his stunner and said that somebody was going to get fired.
