Yes, it's happened to me a few times while I was at the stores' parking lots and even at a gas station. I am always leary about giving people money. I cannot differentiate the difference whether they "really" need it or just want to fix their drug/alcohol habit. To play it safe, I just usually say, "No, I'm a poor college student."

Oh, yeah, a story to share.....

My boss once stopped at a gas station, and this man was asking him for money because his girlfriend is pregnant and they were stranded, etc, etc, so my boss gave him some change.

Fast-forward about two-three months later, and the SAME man approached my boss (not recognizing him) and told him the SAME story. My boss told him, "You already told me this a couple of months ago?" Geez! Either this man has multiple pregnant girlfriends, or he's pulling a "story." You choose.

But anyway.... it's very difficult to tell what is real and what isn't, seriously.... I want to help those who REALLY need it, yet I don't want to "feed" someone's drug/alcohol addiction, you know.... Our society is quite difficult to differentiate stories at times.

Nope. Which is good, because I can't afford my own gas.

Why would you treat your dad like that?
