Default Have You Ever Been In A Life Threatening Situation?

The reason I was asking if anyone had been through a really bad situation before is because Sunday afternoon, my mother, little sister, and I were robbed at gunpoint. We came home from the grocery store and began to unload the trunk of the car that had the grocery bags in it. Two men pulled guns on us and took our purses, and other belongings that we had on us. They had the guns pressed against our bodies and made us get on the ground after they snatched our purses. Uortunately the purses had a lot of important things in them. They made us lay on the ground. My sister didn't have a purse with her of course because she's only 12. I'm glad that she hasn't started to carry a purse because that would have been taken also. The men told us that they would shoot and kill us if we didn't give them what they wanted. I was wondering if my situation might relate to what other people may have had to go through. It was the first time that ever happened and hopefully will never happen again. It was very frightening.

Well I wasn't literally going to die, I thought I was though. I took the wrong prescription once by accident. My medicine sits on the counter next to my father's. My lovely father put his in my pile one night, and me being an idiot, didn't look at which bottle I was opening, because I assumed it was mine. I ended up taking his Valium (keep in mind that I am prescribed to take 5 of my pills everynight, therefore I took 5 of his) It must have reacted with some of the other meds I was on (that's all I can think of) because man, was I sick. I threw up numerous times and then was knocked out. When I woke up I thought I was dead. Quite unpleasant.

In September of 1987 when I was eleven years old and in 6th grade I was in a White Hen with three friends of mine. We had all picked out what we were going to buy and were on our way up to the register when a man came in, pulled out a knife in front of us and the cashier and asked the cashier and me and my friends for all our money.

I've had a few actually, when I was 6, I went canoeing with my dad, sister and cousin while we were visiting family near Indiana. The river was actually pretty high from previous rain, and my dad decided to take us anyways. We got a little ways down the river course and the canoe flipped, taking me down with it. All I remember of it was grabbing something in my hand which felt like hair , so I guess I assumed it was my dad's hair for some reason, and decided I had to save him. I kept pulling and pulling at this "hair" and finally it came free from whatever was holding it down. So I got to the surface and managed to find a clam section of the water, I looked up and saw my sister, dad and cousin on the other side or the river crying. They thought I was dead and gone down the river. I remeber looking down at my hand and saw that the "hair" that I thought I had a hold of was actually some kind of moss from the bottom of the river. Apparently,I had been under water for a pretty long time.

The worst incident was when I was 13 and it is graphic. I was mauled by an Akita who belonged to a naighbor. When they pulled him off of me he was going for my throat. He then turned on his owner, ripped open her abdomen area and slashed her bicep. What I got was my arm nearly severed from the elbow. I had over 150 stitches in my arm, pins which are still in them to this day, and it took me 6 months to bend my arm with physical therapy. When they asked me if I wanted him to be put down, I said no...( mind you I was 13, and a huge animal lover ) So in result, his owners continued to show the dog in shows ( I'm sure they committed some form of fraud to do so ). From what I had heard after that was the dog turned on a boy at a dog show and nearly killed him, then they put the dog down. I had always felt guilty that I didn't have the dog put down in the first place, then that poor kid wouldn't have ended up probably worse than I did.

i've quite narrowly escaped drowning (so long ago i don't remember it), ODing and being crushed to death. among other similar but less scary situations, ie being in a car while my uncle was driving drunk but didn't do any more than hit a car in front of us.

Sorry to hear that Jen. I haven't been robbed, but I was almost kidnapped at gunpoint before. But thanks to my screams and my sister and friends I was with, I was able to get away and give a descriptiong to the cops. It was a bad day...I don't like going into details though.

Default Let's see.

When I was five, I jumped into a swimming pool and almost drowned. To Asian men saved me by jumping into the pool and saved me! that same year, I was in my mother's boyfriend's car, and I ended up making the car "go by itself", and my mother's boyfriend stopped me! He stopped me and then actually smacked me!

I'm sorry to hear about that, Jenny. I am glad, however, everything turned out well. You're right. It's best just to give thieves personal belongings they are asking for. Afterall, your lives are much more precious than any materialistic items. I have a co-worker friend who recently told me she and previous co-workers were held up at a cigarette store, and they gave the cash to the thieves so they could get out alive.

I'm very sorry that happened, Jen. Have you been to the police?

I hope those guys are caught, or I hope a "Home Alone" situations happens to them. I loved the fact that in that movie the thieves got what they deserved.

I hate thieves. I really do.
