For those of you Lucy fans, I have never seen that movie "Mame" in my entire life. This film starred Lucielle Ball as Mame. The film was based on the Broadway musical. I have this movie on VHS. It was from 1974. Has anybody seen that film?

I'm sorry to say I did see "Mame". It's an awful movie.

I have a widescreen edition of the movie on DVD & another rarely seen version (it has different camera angles than the one most people have seen). I thought the movie was good.

I have mixed feelings about Mame. I do like it, but it's definitely one of my least favorites that Lucy has done.

I liked Lucy in this movie but I prefer the version called Auntie Mame with Rosalind Russell. Lucy was very good but, IMO, not as good. Maybe it is because I had already seen the version with RR multiple times before I saw the one Lucy did....idk. Lucy was good tho. And I still love her! JMO.

I saw Mame several years ago. It was alright. I agreed with the previous poster that once you have seen Rosalind Russell's performance you find Lucille's version isn't quite as good. I did get a kick out of Bea Arthur as Mame's friend in the Lucy version. The songs weren't bad. It was a different take on the play/movie. Didn't Angela Lansbury play mame on broadway. I read she wasn't too pleased with Lucy's version. I won't say Lucy's version was awful just different. It was done as musical.

Yes, Angela played on Broadway and got rave reviews..Lucy's version got bombed..The movie was filmed through gauze in the lens to give her a 'fresher' look and I bet she was dubbed like in most of her movies; her voice was so deep at this stage of her life.

I never saw the entire movie, but from what I've seen it's pretty bad.
I agree that the non-musical version with Rosiland Russell is WAAAY better. |

When I saw the movie I taped the songs. It was interesting to hear Lucy, Bea, Jane O'connell and Forrest Tucker sing. I like to tape movie sound tracks.
