Is it true Helen Hunt almost nabbed the part as Katie? She was supposed to have had some appearances on the show anyway, but it has been so long since I've see the show. What parts did she play?

I believe she appeared in only one episode of Gimme A Break. She played Valerie (Katie's pregnant friend) in the episode An Unmarried Couple.

Helen never played Katie
She played Valerie a friend of Katies

I haven't heard that. I think something like that would have been mentioned on the E! True Hollywood Story.

I do know Kari Michaelsen was up for the part of Jo on The Facts of Life. I guess she was a good friend of Nancy McKeon.
