Default Re: Episode when Keith got drunk and slapped Thelma

Ok the episode when Keith slapped Thelma because she kept telling him to stop acting crazy because he was drunk really made me mad because when he slapped her all Michael and JJ did was give him an angry look. They just stood there and did nothing. Thats not realistic. Sorry but I would think they would have slapped him back or did something to him for slapping their sister. They just looked at him with these angry looks but Thelma got him back in the bedroom when she slapped him back. Good for her. What kind of brothers are they to just stand there and do nothing? The writers should have written that better.

YES JJ and Michael should have done something. But I think that if Kieth would have hit her again then they would have jumped in. Michael and JJ probably figured that Thelma is a strong woman and she could handle Kieth on her own. And plus that was between Thelma and Kieth.

Yeah it was between Keith and Thelma but when he starts using violence on their sister JJ and Michael should have kicked his ass. No man should hit on any woman for any reason.

I hear that Kool. Right on my brother!!!! I know that when it comes to sisters/brothers, there are special ties that bind them, and knowing my late brother, he would have kicked some major a$$!!!! It doesn't make sense. It would have been a good idea to see the two brothers go after Keith somehow. Maybe they should have written it so that Keith slapped her when they were alone. The fact that it was done with them there makes no sense if they did nothing whatsoever. I agree with you Kool and those who believe this was totally unrealistic. As for that statement that this was between Keith and Thelma, NO WAY. WRONG. When it comes to anyone hitting anyone, regardless of their gender, it becomes everyone's business, that is, anyone who witnesses it. No man should ever hit a woman. EVER.

Too bad James wasn't around. Keith would have ended up DEAD MEAT!!!!!

I never said that it was ok that Keith hit Thelma, A man should never hit a woman no matter what she does. What I said was that it was between Keith and Thelma, that was their business and their fight. Now if Keith would have went back into the room and hit Thelma again then I think that Michael and JJ would have stepped in.

But Thelma was a strong woman and she could handle her own and as you could see in the end she did. Just like I tell my husband, I might be small but I can handle my own, I don't need anyone to fight my battles for me.

If I remember correctly, didn't Michael tell Keith that if he ever hit her again there would be a problem?

No, Keith was going to say something to Michael and Michael said "I don't want to hear it."

But what I am saying is that regardless if she could hold her own or not. A man, by any law, laws of decency, criminal laws, moral laws, common sense, should never hit a woman. The statement, she can hold her own sounds like she is okay because she took care of it. Regardless if she could take care of it or not, real men standing by would HAVE DONE SOMETHING. Real brothers, who are real men would HAVE DONE SOMETHING. I am not talking abt any other scenario than what was presented in this episode. Two brothers seeing their sister get hit, regardless if she is 100 lbs. and petite or 220 lbs. and a heavyweight fighter, they would have done something. It's not abt whether she needs them to do something, it's just abt doing something. I think the guys here would say the same.

In my first post I said that Michael and JJ should have jumped in when Keith hit Thelma. Michael and JJ prob felt like it was Thelma's and Keith business and they had to work out their own mess. But if Keith would have went back and hit Thelma again then Michael and JJ would have prob stepped in.

Like the Mad Dog situation, James should have kicked Mad Dogs ass for shooting JJ but he didn't, instead he felt sorry for him. JJ and Michael knew that Keith was drunk and had been depressed, so I guess they figured that's why Keith lashed out the way he did, so they did nothing.

I have to admit, it is very unrealistic for a man to slap a woman in front of her two brothers and both of them don;t react at all. Only in the world of TV something like that would happen-lol

Imagine if James was still on the show, I am sure he would have done a lot more reacting.

I agree that if James was alive he would have lit into Keith's ass. About the comment that it was between Keith and Thelma. The arguing can be bewteen them and no one should jump in on that but when it becomes a violent situation whether its a slap or a punch thats when whoever is there...brother, sister, uncle, aunt, cousin, friend, whoever should jump in and help with the situation regardless like someone said if the person is big or small. Any time a man hits on a woman and someone like their family member or friend witnessed it they should jump in and help. Now arguing I dont think anyone should jump in..they should only jump in when it gets physical as in violence.
