Default More questions about early episodes

I've watched my original tapes of some older episodes I filmed in early 1991 and am wondering about some cases.

The first is about a woman named Cindy James. She was found dead, hog tied with a nylon tied around her neck. She was also doped up on morphine. She had complained to the police for 7 years about being harrassed and the police began to suspect she was suffering from multiple personalities and she was doing it to herself. They ruled her death a suicide, but her family is convinced she was murdered. Did they ever find out what caused her death?

Another case was on Michael Shaky (or something like that). He was investigating the Oregon prison system and was soon thereafter stabbed to death outside his office building. His family suspected Michael has uncovered something that would ruin the careers of several high-ranking officials in the Oregon government and that he was killed to shut him up. Was this murder ever solved?

Another was on Michael Corrado, who ran a chop shop and auto theft ring and was set to be tried and apparently committed suicide by jumping off a bridge. Some suspect the suicide was a cover up and that he actually is still alive and wanted everyone to think he was dead. Did they ever find him, dead or alive?

Of all the three cases you mentioned, only the last one on that list was solved. Robert Corrado was found alive. But I don't know the details as to the outcome of his trial.

By the way, the man from the second case you mentioned was Michael Francke (pronounced as if it were spelled "Franky"). If you look up his name through search engines (such as Google, yahoo, ask.com, etc.), you are bound to find links related to the case.

The Cindy James episode aired not too long ago. I was intrigued and tried to search the net for something. I couldnt find anything relating to the case being solved.

That's probably because it was never solved. But that isn't too surprising since it's one of those "suicide or murder?" cases. I suspect that some of the investigators involved were too one-sided to consider the possibilitiy of murder, despite any evidence that points in that direction.

Thanks everyone for the info.

Sorry I messed up on the names. I knew Michael Francke wasn't "Shaky," but I couldn't remember his last name except for the fact it ended with a "key" sound. I figured if I put something similar to his name it would let you all know who I was talking about. I didn't mean any disrespect or anything if his family ever sees this message.

Wow, Robert (not Michael, another mess up) Corrado was still alive! His poor mother was convinced he was dead. What a horrible thing to do to his mother, not to mention everyone else who loved/was concerned about him. He must have been pretty desperate to do something that extreme, and now I guess he's in prison anyway. Go figure. At least his family knows what happened to him now, even if he did do something reprehensible.

I have a hard time believing Cindy James killed herself. If she were going ot do that, why not just take the morphine and lay down in bed and go to sleep? Why go out to an abandoned house and tie yourself up and lay there to die--that doesn't even make sense. And the theory about her making up the harrassment doesn't hold to me either. What do they think, she beat herself up? Poor lady, I think she had a horrible last 7 years of her life and whoever is responsible should be ashamed of themselves. Hopefully they will be held accountable someday.

You're welcome.

I don't blame you for not correctly remembering names. However, you remembered correctly when you thought that the last name ended with a syllable that sounded like "key". At the very least, you deserve credit for that.

Wait a minute. You initially said Michael Corrado. Without thinking, I said Robert Corrado. Maybe I am right, but we can both agree that the surname was Corrado (although I don't remember whether that's the actual spelling of the surname). I guess we'll have to see that segment again to see whether I was correct about the first name being Robert.

Was the Cindy James case the one where someone spray-painted "i love you cindy" and some initials on the wall across from where she worked? that was one of the first UM episodes i ever saw, and it still creeps me out.

No, that was a different Cindy. The one you're thinking of is Cynthia Anderson. She was the one who disappeared from her workplace in Ohio back in 1981. She has a profile at the Doe Network site (an unfortunate hint that she is still missing).
