This post probably won't be answered alot, but since I can't find any others to reply to I'll make my own.
When I saw the promo for "Nick At Nite's Revenge of the '80s" featuring "Silver Spoons," It immediately took me back to my childhood. I remember watching both Diff'rent Strokes and Silver Spoons on NBC and later on in syndication. But usually when I finally see something that I haven't seen in years, I usually just watch enough for me to reminice a bit--which isn't much--like "Gimme A Break!," or "Webster"--which by the way I found very depressing! But Silver Spoons surprised me alot. Even though most of the episodes consisted of formulaic writing and problems that were solved or forgotten in 30 minutes, I thoroghly enjoyed the first episode they aired during the marathon. They made Mr.T funny and smart! By the way, it's kind of a strange coincidence that with the exception of square pegs, all of the shows featured on that marathon aired on NBC! Oh yeah, and another thing, Nick at Nite should've put something else in place of "Facts of Life" which is alredy on the regular lineup! "Small Wonder",or even "Gimme A Break," would've been better. |

Mind if I include your thoughts in the fan section of the official book?

I remember NBC playing Silver Spoons and Different Strokes as well! I love Eighty's shows. You're right about them taking the Facts of Life off, I'd rather see "Small Wonder" or"Webster" but espeacially "Silver Spoons". Those shows were great and the shows of today just don't compare. I also remember "Punky Brewster" I used to love that show too! When I was little I wanted to be just like her! Luv, Lisa 18 Gibbstown, NJ |

I think I might remember watching maybe one episode of the Punky Brewster sitcom, but I watched the cartoon alot as a kid. I also think that the other reason '80s shows have hooked me in is because some of the theme songs were actually pretty catchy. For Example, "Gimme A Break!"---the first theme, not the second one, Family Ties, The Cosby Show's various versions of their theme and of course the king of them all, Silver Spoons. Like I said in my first post, I didn't expect the show to be that entertaining by today's standards, but I was pleasantly surprised. I was actually just looking forward to hearing the theme song again (I rewound my tape several times just to listen to it). The only low point was in the two episodes where Rick is older and they change the theme with some guy yelling the entire song.
By the way, besides Diff'rent Strokes, are there any other '80s shows (excluding Silver Spoons from this point) that will be put on the regular schedule. Just curious. |

I can't believe you would dog Factos of Life like that. I love Silver Spoons but come on! Facts of Life is better.

Hey, no disrespect to Facts Of Life. It's a great show, but like I said it was already on the regular lineup. That just didn't make any sense to me.
