Default Is this a bad or good quality in a person?

is it a bad or good quality to be 100% honest and give people the cold, hard truth when asked? i don't think it is good but a lot of people think complete honesty is the best policy. i personally think that it's good to be honest but in the nicest way possible. does anyone think that it's good to be like that, where you give out the complete truth? my friend Makayla is like that. when asked an opinion, she says EXACTLY what is on her mind, where I try to make offensive opinions sound as unoffensive as possible.

in this case, are you guys more like me, where you are sensitive, or are you like Makayla, where you deal out the cold truth?

I think it's good to be 100% honest, if you can do it in a nice way, not rude.

you know Makayla. do you think she is blunt and cold-honest or friendly-honest? she reminds me of Gina a lot. it's also good to be open minded when answering questions.

Yes and no. People will respect you more for being honest compared to being a liar but you can also hurt people by being honest. I guess a little white lie never hurt anyone.

if someone asked me a question and my real answer might hurt the person, i would say it in the least offensive way possible, still being honest. some people would say it exactly as it runs through their mind, which can hurt people.

I'm by nature brutally honest. *Loks over at little sister. "Em, that dress makes you look like a blimp."*

I think it's a little of both, actually. There has to be a line drawn, but that line is all individualized. You have to decide what is appropriate and innappropriate before making a decision of how to bring something up.

I think I would rather hear the honest truth than just hear what *I* want to hear. I have a friend who is very honest and speaks his mind, and I respect that in him. He sees the world in a different manner more so than *most* people I know.

I'm very blunt and brutally honest but It depends on the person for me. If it's family, I'll tell them like it is. If it's a friend or something like that, I sugarcoat it a bit, but I still tell them the truth.

well yeah. if someone showed me a picture of themself and asked if it was ugly and i thought it looked gross, i would say "that isn't a good picture of you, no offense. but it's just the picture", while my friend Makayla would say "i am going to be totally honest on this one, but yes, it looks ugly. not like it matters." but some people respect her for being brutally honest like that.

I've very blunt. I get it from my grandmother... she was a cold, hard British. I'm exactly like her. I used to try and change, but I just can't. It's the way I am. If people don't like what I have to say, then don't listen.

i don't know how i turned out the way i am. my friend Makayla (who i have mentioned like 3 other times in this thread) is a tough, mind-speaking African American (Egyptian). and her mom is like that too. she definitely speaks her mind, but she is softer to people she has known longer.
