Question Valerie Harper

Members & Moderator,

I personally like Rhoda better than Mary. I never thought Rhoda had a weight problem like they acted like in MARY TYLOR MOORE. I am personally glad that that they gave Valerie Harper her own show. Mary Tylor Moore was just not cutting it. Mary Tylor Moore acted like she was better than anyone else, which got all my nerves. I like Mary Tylor Moore in THE DICK VAN DYKE SHOW but no other sitcoms or series she had to herself was ever as good as THE DICK VAN DYKE SHOW.

Well Mindy I don't think Mary acted like she was better than Rhoda. I do agree with you about Rhoda not having a weight problem. When Rhoda was to be spun off into her own show Mary told her that if things didn't work out with her show, she would always have a place on The MTM show. These words came out of the mouth of Valerie Harper. I also read your message about Mary saying the word F*#k on that talk show. I understand if you don't have respect for her. I've even lost a little for her myself.

<<I do agree with you about Rhoda not having a weight problem. >>

Valerie Harper herself didn't have a weight problem at the time. They just dressed her in clothes that made her look like she did. Eventually, though, Valerie lost some weight, and Rhoda did too. (Look at the episode "Rhoda the Beautiful" on MTM). As for liking Rhoda better than Mary, you're entitled to your opinion, but I prefer Mary.
That's not to say there isn't a place in my heart for Rhoda, b/c there is. There's a little bit of Rhoda in all of us.

My older sister and both of my parents told me that Mary Tylor Moore really wanted Valerie Harper to be heavier than Mary Tylor Moore (because, Mary Tylor Moore was jeolous of Valerie Harper).

I seriously doubt this is true. If you see them together on a talkshow, you can easily see that they are as close off-screen as on. They absolutely adore each other. In fact, when Valerie went to do the spinoff, she said to Mary, "What if this fails?" and Mary was like, "So then Rhoda moves back to Minneapolis." I think that's the sweetest thing, and if you were really jealous of someone, I don't think you'd tell them they could come back on your show.

My Dear 'Kristen' you have to face the facts they were on television - you cannot believe everything you see on television or on the big screen. Mary Tylor Moore would say anything to be popular.

Why, I respect Bill Bixby. Bill Bixby is and was an Angel. Bill Bixby always changed the negative in life to positive. And when Bill Bixby was fighting against Prostate Cancer in the hospital he made friends with other Cancer Patients - and check with their doctors after they left the hospital (about their health). No one can compare to Bill Bixby not even your precious Mary Tylor Moore. Face Facts!

No one has a negative thing to say about Bill Bixby.

I read Mary Tyler Moore's autobiography, in which she shares all kinds of personal details of her life, her son's death, her alcoholism, etc, and she says NOTHING about being jealous of Valerie. You can't say she just didn't write about it b/c she wrote about all kinds of other stuff, why wouldn't she write about that, if it were true. All you have is hearsay, but there's actual evidence to the contrary.

All you have is Mary Tylor Moore's side -- it is the truth when someone else said something about you (I mean, the real people that knew you). I know, Mary Tylor Moore was jeolous of Valerie Harper.

I have NO respect for Mary Tylor Moore. I have a ton for Bill Bixby, though.

I mean no one would actually write they were jeolous of another human-being, come on! Wake up!

I do not agree!

I think Mary Tylor Moore was terribly jeolous of Valerie Harper.

Mary Tylor Moore never could compare to what kind Bill Bixby -- Bill Bixby had the biggest heart (a heart as pure of gold).

I can see I can't change your mind here. But no one can say I didn't stick up for my favorite actress. I just couldn't let that be said about her (That she was jealous) without at least sticking up for her. That's what being a fan is, sticking up for them when someone says something about them.

I am just voicing out an opinion about this actress. I think Mary Tylor Moore was so jeolous of Valerie Harper she couldn't see straight. I definitely do not think Mary Tylor Moore should bag about using a profanity word. I really look down upon Mary Tylor Moore for doing that on THE DAVID LETTERMAN SHOW. I think Mary Tylor Moore was morally wrong for doing that. I am a fan of Bill Bixby and Bill Bixby would never have done something like that -- that why I idolize him so much. Mary Tylor Moore should look at Bill Bixby for an example. And Bill Bixby was a way better person than Mary Tylor Moore -- Mary Tylor Moore could never amount to what kind of person Bill Bixby was. Bill Bixby had a heart pure as gold -- Mary Tylor Moore didn't!

OK, you're entitled to your opinion. I voiced mine, you voiced yours. I still don't agree with it, but you're allowed to voice it.

PS--If you're going to talk about MTM, at least spell her name right. Mary Tyler Moore. Thanks.

Bixby,
You know I think you are just on crack or something. You obviously have no life because you sit here and say bad stuff about people that isn't even true. I've also heard from one of my friends that you've been on other boards like the Laverne and Shirley board saying that Penny Marshall was jealous of Cindy Williams. Obviously, you are just going from board to board making trouble. Get a life!

And one final thing spell Mary's name right (you put Tylor, it's Tyler!)and stop being such a pain or i'll come over to your house and introduce you to Old Betsy and the 5 avengers--my fists.
