IF I remember correctly, Lorenzo Music's role as "Carlton the Doorman" came about almost by accident. I believe he worked primarily as a writer (or in some similar behind-the-scenes capacity), and originally supplied the voice of Carlton as a one-time-only bit for a specific episode. It went over so well, they decided to leave it in as a recurring part of the storyline. Can anyone confirm this, or supply additional information?

I loved Carlton the Doorman, but did they ever show him in any of the episodes? I remember his voice, but I don't remember ever seeing him.

From what I read, they couldn't find anyone to voice Carlton, so Lorenzo Music filled in. But he handled the role so well that he portrayed the inebriated doorman for the entire run. In the closing credits, he was billed as "L. Music."
