Yes it is... you want the child to suffer but you give them day(s) off?

at my school they don't let you make up any missed assignments and you lose credit. ya i got suspended for a day in seventh grade and my mom told me to read little women until school let out and i read it for about ten minutes and fell asleep for the rest of the day.

So did my school, and that's what you got unless you did something really bad.

Our inschool consisted of sitting in a tiny room with no windows in the office. They made you sit in one of those library cubbies (desk with walls), and some scary dude with no neck watched your every move.

I got an out of school suspension once. It was bad, though. My parents did not allow me to do anything. I didn't have any fun and I had to be with my parents when we shopped for furniture on the day I got suspended.

It is pointless unless your family punishes you.

Maybe if more parents would take charge of their kids and not just let them do whatever they want, it would be more of a punishment.

Yeah I had this friend last year who got into a fight two days before Christmas break and they suspended him. They just gave him an early holiday!!

I guess the only thing about out of school suspension, is the embarassment that comes with it. Your friends go to school and get to socialize, but you have to stay home. (Yeah, you can sleep late, watch Tv, go online, etc.) But when you go back to school and everyone asks you where you were, you might be embarassed telling them you were suspended. Also, think of all the work you missed and how long it will take you to make up... I think the best way to punish someone is detention, either after school or on weekends.
