I just watched the Betty Lou episode and I realized thet the Jerry character drives me nuts.
He is a bully and it doesn't ring true how Rob would like him. Thank you. I feel better now. |

I disagree. He was one of my favorites. I missed him when he wasn't on too much the last couple of years. He spent more time behind the camera than in front of it.

I love Jerry! I will admit he could be a big PITA though, but I still think he's great.

I love Jerry, except in the episode "Punch Thy Neighbor." I found him insufferable in that episode, which he was supposed to be, I guess.

I think Jerry, and Millie too, was just off beat
enough to be about perfect for Rob and Laura's neighbors and best friends. They were a good counterpoint to them that seemed natural and real. Rob probably wouldn't chose a guy like Jerry as a best friend by himself, but in that he married Millie and she was Laura's best friend, it seems like a true life mix. Jerry Paris seems to have been a pretty darn good sitcom director too. I think he did at least a couple of the Police Academy movies and I like them more than the critics did. They were very sitcomy, basically very harmless and good natured, and they were done very professionally. He knew his stuff as a director. And he also did one of the great cult comedies of all time, "Evil Roy Slade" with John Astin. People still talk about that as the funniest thing they've ever seen. Jerry was ok (but I can see why his character might bug people). |

he also directed some episodes of "The Odd Couple" & "Happy Days", and I think he also directed some episodes of "Mork and Mindy" & "Laverne & Shirley".
O.T.: I saw him in a dramatic role once on "The Fugitive". It was in 1963, same time he was doing Dickies show. |
