I got some double-talk from eBay, saying that they "hadn't received" my payment, even though I sent it 2 weeks ago. Now I'm probably going to be in an argument with them forever now.

Default I got mine yesterday and a Question. . . .

I bought my set yesterday at Walmart for $21.94, I think. I couldn't believe how cheap this set was. I was expecting it to cost much more than that. I watched a couple episodes yesterday. I also bought the Chicho and the Man dvd. It was less than six bucks!!!!! So a LOT of great television for less than 30 dollars!!!!!!

Here's my question, I wonder why they called it the Ultimate Collection?????? It's Season One, isn't it??????? Why don't they just come out and tell people it's Season One?????? I think that's confusing to people.

Respectfully,
Dutch

RE: Ebay and how it responds . . .

You don't have to say much to get me started about Ebay. I have been an Ebay customer for over five years. This year I've been scammed twice by people taking my money and not sending me what I paid for. This latest time was for some Dark Shadows dvd's. I had more problems dealing with Ebay than I did with the jerk who ripped me off. Ebay will NEVER get any more money from me. I will spend my money elsewhere like Amazon from now on.

It's not the first season. It's 26 episodes, of the 36 episode first season.

The rest of the episodes are property to the creator of the show, and they might never be released on DVD. Why? I don't know.

It's called the "Ultimate" collection, because these episodes have been digitally restored and contain the original theme music. There have been dozens of various Hillbilllies releases, but most of them were poor quality and sound.

From now on, I will just keep buying these "Ultimate" collections.

Default Regarding EBAY ~

I got an email today saying my item had been shipped! Hooray!!!

~~~
The most I have ever been taken for by someone from ebay, was about 8 dollars. I'm very glad it wasn't more.
Whenever I buy from sellers on ebay, I always check to see how much negative/positive feedback they have, and what comments other buyers left.
I think MCI only has the rights to the first 27 episodes, & Paramount owns the rest.
This is really disappointing. No wonder they didn't call it "Season One" because it's not season one. This is really kind of irritating, to be quite honest. I have bought Beverly Hillbillies, Bonanza, etc. on release before and they have different theme music, etc. Plus there's so much repetition. e.g., you buy one dvd to get one or two episodes but it might already have two or three eps. that you already have. So, in essence, this was a really good collection but it's not the whole season. I had seen the line up before the release and I guess I just assumed by looking at the original airdates that it was the whole season, because the episode airdates looked like they were pretty much in order. This is so disappointing.
I got Volume 1 today in the mail. I am glad the episodes are uncut, but not so glad about picture quality on some of the early episodes. The film is jumpy from time to time, and there is a heck of a lot of grain. There are also a lot of digital marks on the picture. It looks like a JPEG image. The sound is also crackly in some episodes.
Well, first of all, let me say that the release of "The Beverly Hillbillies" is a task that should be heaped on the shoulders of Paramount Home Video and only Paramount Home Video. It boggles my mind that Paramount has poured its time and energy into releasing shows like "Happy Days" and "Laverne & Shirley" on DVD to poor sales and ignores the earning potential that shows like "The BeverlyHillbillies" and "The Lucy Show" could earn. But, anyway....
I am a big fan of "The Beverly Hillbillies", but I am not a fan of this newly released compilation. It isn't the entire season, which is ludicrous. I think about 10 of the DVD's 26 episodes are in poor quality, with sound drop-offs and annoying lines running horizontally down the picture. That is simply inexcusable. If your going to release these shows, then show the show and the consumer a little respect by cleaning them up a little bit.
We need to band together and forming a petition or an agressive letter writing campaign directed to the folks at Paramount Home Video and get the ball rolling on releasing a real, decent DVD collection of "The Beverly Hillbillies". ALL of the DVDs out there right now of this classic series are simply a shameful disgrace.
