HBO Documentaries: AUTOPSY

Do any of you find this show fascinating? I love this documentary series ever since it came on. I don't get joy out of people's deaths, far from it, but I am fascinated with how Dr. Michael Baden has found the "real" cause of death in many cases.
One of my favorite cases covered on this series is the one abt the old man who's young lady friend died from tuberculosis. He was heartbroken over her death. Later on he eventually removed her body from the mausoleum where her body laid, took her home, and perfumed her body to mask the odors. The lady's sister got suspicious when neighbors told her abt the old man rarely leaving his house, playing his piano in the late hours and the bottles of perfumes he took inside his home. The police found the corpse in his bed, wearing a wedding dress, a face mask covering the skull, and the body had a leathery touch and look to it. Dr. Baden went on to say the body was also found to have a "artificial" part inserted into the body to simulate a woman's private part, therefore, the old man could have "relations" with the corpse. The mask that he used to simulate her face was actually a death mask he made from her face shortly after she died many years before. This is thee scariest story I have seen on this show. It is gross, I admit, but it is also intriguing.

I saw that! Gave me the creeps! I also seen that story covered on Wierd US just a couple of nights ago. What a freak he was!

I love that show, and I've seen the episode you're referring to Irene. The guy was a total nutjob. He reminded me of the Phantom Of The Opera, only the object of his obsession was dead.

It's a graphic series too. I can't believe the pictures they show.

Yeah, this was one of the freekiest stories they have told on autopsy. Mind you, I was not alone when I watched this, and it still gave me the creeps!

That's one of the reasons I love watching it. I am the type that won't turn my head away. I read true crime stories, I love "reality". I had wanted to be a crime scene investigator, however, it didn't work that way.

I saw one of those, and it creeped me the hell out. They were sawing this dude's skull open and took out the brain at one point.

I'd be hesitant to watch it if I saw it on again.

Ohhhhh, that was the most exciting part of this whole series. watching an actual autopsy. did u notice the "ripping" sound as he pulled the guys' face and scalp off the skull???? and Dr. Baden has done this sooo many times, he just does it like he is peeling a mango. sorry, don't mean to be insensitive.

No, I can't say I remember the sounds quite so vividly. But I'm sure it did make the ripping sound, since that's essentially what he did.

I've seen the show and I do remember the old guy with the dead woman.

I also remember the cutting (ripping) sounds of the autopsy. I really got disgusted when I heard the sounds plus the way the face of the person is peeled back. Although I am the type to look at it. The sounds got to me.

i am the same way, i can't stand the sounds, but there I am with my eyes wide open and glued to the set...
