Default BREAKING NEWS!!! CHAD AND SOPHIA HAVE SPLIT!!!

Chad Michael Murray, Sophia Bush Split

From the People Magazine Website

Monday Sep 26, 2005 6:30pm EST
Monday Sep 26, 2005 7:20pm EST (updated)

Chad Michael Murray, 24, and Sophia Bush, 23, have separated after five months of marriage, PEOPLE has learned.

A spokesperson for Bush confirmed the split, but offered no further details on the relationship between the couple, who star together on One Tree Hill.

"This is a difficult and unfortunate situation," said Bush in statement. "I am glad this is being resolved sooner rather than later."

"I am saddened to announce that Sophia and I are separating," said Murray. "This is a very difficult time for me."

Murray and Bush exchanged handwritten vows during their wedding on April 16 at Santa Monica's Hotel Casa Del Mar before 200 guests.

The couple got engaged in May 2004 in Australia when Murray popped the question on a tennis court adorned with 20 bouquets of roses and 500 lit candles spelling out a special message for Bush.

"It's a really, really important moment for a woman, so I wanted to do what I could do to make it special," Murray said at the time.

The pair met on the set of their WB show and began dating in 2003.

- I can't believe it, I hope they remain good friends and this news doesn't affect One Tree Hill in any way... Even though working together is probably going to be awkward

Gob: There's not a lot of logic to it. It's kind of like on a boat with "Women and children first." I mean, why should they -

anyone have any idea how the writers are going to accomidate it? Considering Chad Michael Murray is the star and the poster-boy of the show and the big draw for teen girls and gay boys all over the place, I think the writers are going to find some way to have Brooke leaving Tree Hill very soon, unless Chad and Sophia are going to have that very rare Bruce/Demi type of split where they're still best friends.

I'm sure that Sophia wouldn't leave the show just because of a spat with Chad. Some celebrities don't let their personal life get in the way of their professional life.I hope she's one of them.If she does leave and they get back together, the people will find some way to have Lucas be glad to see Brooke again

hopefully they'll be professional enough to work together despite the divorce. But I do think that if it ever came down to "you gotta let one of us go", they'd dispose of Sophia because Chad is the bread and butter of the show. He's the face that sells all the teen magazines and is always most prominently featured on WB's promos.

I really hope it doesn't come down to the, "you gotta let one of us go" cuz if it does.. that wouldn't be good.. Chad might be the headliner of the show.. but Sophia is the backbone.. and without backbone the show as a whole wouldn't be as good. I think the reason why they split was probably because Chad was always working.. thus causing them to hardly see each other which probably was hard for both of them. I just hope they can remain good friends
