He was kind of heavy in the last season of Friends. It is more noticeable in candid pictures when wardrobe and camera angles are not to his advantage. Also, he was kind of heavy towards the end of season one of Joey. I still thought he looked great, but he obviously had a healthy appetite.

Yeah, Matt definitely gained weight towards the end of the Friends run -- he was open about it and the fact that he dropped weight for Joey. He looks much better now.
