Hey Gang...

As disturbed as I am about the nature of a couple of beasts, I thought maybe I could share some thoughts and ideas with you.....

First of all, does anyone else find it LAZY of the production companies to give us ANYTHING but FULL, UNCUT episodes when they produce DVDs for sale? I realize that the companies that put these out for consumer purchase only can deal with what they are given, but there should be VERY little reason why a production company doesn't have uncut originals to send to these places.

Sure we understand acts of God or accidents to the original aired episodes, after all there will likely ALWAYS be a human element...

But it indeed begs a question or two...

1) Will these companies YEARS down the road, break down, go into the vault and add things so we either KEEP buying or settle for syndicated episodes?

2) If we don't purchase the syndicated episodes first, is there EVER a chance of seeing the entire series run in abridged or eventually unabridged?

There's a LOT of great uncut material out there...and I applaud the studios for doing such things...we FANS of the show DEARLY appreciate the hard work...

There's just a concern for me though as one can notice this with movies from the studios already...

Things that were "in the can" and could have easily been added then as extras turn up in versions 3 to 5 years later as a special edition...

I do however have an alternate solution for the studios to consider...

Since it seems at least 3 of the major networks don't want to produce original programming on Saturdays, is there a reason we can't have the UNCUT episodes of some of our favorite CLASSICS be re-aired by the networks?

I don't know how much a network would have to sacrifice or how many commercials they would have to sacrifice from the syndicated episodes (maybe Pavan can shed some light there), but WHO, those of us true TV fans would not LOVE to see an episode or two of a "classic" to have all the warm and fuzzy feelings once again and to at LEAST have a gem or two for our temporary collections until and if the studios would choose to release it?

I DO believe that there is a society that helps preserve original movies, and I think that many of us who LOVE what the television delivers would help to preserve and eventually help the shows to make their way to our store shelves for our happiness...

If not, is there ANY reason we can't have shows on demand for a FLAT fee? There should be a way for us to not have to wonder what a show looked like or be able to have a memory relived....

Its just my opinion, what do you all think?
