Gotta go with Beat Street. I watched a bunch of these movies all in one week last year and Beat Street was the most realistic, least watered down Hollywood version of hip hop.

In case you didn't see it already, check out this thread on 80s Hip Hop Movies.

You're right, Vashti about Beat Street being the most realistic and probably the better movie. But I picked Breakin' because I seen it more than the others I listed. Might I add, they were poor actors on Breakin' LOL Ozone and Turbo and even Kelly acting skills sucked!

Another thing, Vashti. If I would have known these movies were posted already, I wouldn't have created this poll. That was posted before I even registered here. I just thought of this in my head. LOL

No problem, I figured that was the case. I just gave the link because I thought you'd be interested in checking that thread out too.

Me, I'll say none of the above. I usually don't go for those type of movies. They bring nothing but trouble.

Well, you shouldn't have responded. This thread is for people that like these movies. These movies are anything but trouble, so stop making prejudice assumptions about hip-hop.

Is Boyz & The Hood considered hip hop? If so, then that's my favorite. I agree with you GARFIELDKOOL, it's not good that people generalize hip hop movies. Alot of the movies you posted up are realistic, and just tell stories from a more relatable point of view. Boyz & The Hood is a perfect example. I'm sure there are many young kids throughout South Central Los Angeles, and throughout all of America, who live very similar lives to some of the characters in the movie. Those kids have the right to have their stories told, just like anyone else.

Thanks for agreeing with me, Little Mel. Boyz n the Hood was more of an coming of age urban realistic movie. It didn't focus on hip-hop like the movies I listed. It had various hip-hop soundtracks throghout the movie, though.

Thumbs up

I love "Beat Street". One of the best hip-hop films ever.
