Default White Shadow Season 1 dvd: 11/08/05

When professional basketball player Ken Reeves (Ken Howard) suffers a serious knee injury, his career comes to a grinding halt—and all his dreams of glory seem shattered. Fortunately an old friend, who is now the principal of a Los Angeles inner-city high school, offers him a job as a basketball coach. Although initially hesitant, Reeves' love of the game finally convinces him to accept the position. But he soon discovers the only thing worse than his team's lack of skill on the court is their lack of belief in themselves off the court. Yet the new coach feels certain that the right combination of guts, sweat, luck and attention will make his players winners in the end.

I can't wait. But, I am worried that they may have alot of editing on the DVD's. they better not cut out the singing in the shower scenes. I watched White Shadow on ESPN Classic channel, and they always cut out the singing scenes...BS!!!!!!

The dvds should be fine. FOX usually does an excellent job with their releases, just judging from stuff I have, from Mary Tyler Moore Show to the Bernie Mac Show. The White Shadow episodes should be intact.

Remember that episode where that new boy had a brain aneurysm or something and died during practice, and everybody blamed Coach Reeves for overworking him? I can't remember if that's a Season 1 episode or a Season 2 episode

I barely remember the episode offhand (it's been too long since I've seen them ) Was that the one with Haywood Nelson?

Speaking of season 2, the second episode aired in year 2 was Albert Hodges which seems clearly designed to have been the season premiere because the students were returning for the fall semester in that one.

That's the one! Wish it was Season 1 though. Another good one was the one where the school baseball coach was getting violent with his players and it was up to Reeves to teach him how to keep his cool before he loses his job I'm almost 100% sure that episode was from Season 1.

11 days away from the dvd. Anybody already getting eager for this? I was just checking an episode guide and remember a lot of the season 1 episodes pretty well even though I haven't seen them in years. This one-two punch of Fame and The White Shadow coming out is great for me, a one-two-three punch counting A Different World too. Those are three of my favorite shows.

White Shadow cast list:

Ken Reeves..... Ken Howard
Jim Willis (First Episode Only)..... Jason Bernard
Jim Willis (1978-1980)..... Ed Bernard
Sybil Buchanan..... Joan Pringle
James Hayward (1978-1980)..... Thomas Carter
Morris Thorpe..... Kevin Hooks
Curtis Jackson (1978-1980)..... Erik Kilpatrick
Milton Reese (1978-1980)..... Nathan Cook
Mario "Salami" Pettrino..... Timothy Van Patten
Abner Goldstein (1978-1980)..... Ken Michelman
Ricky Gomez (1978-1980)..... Ira Angustain
Warren Coolidge..... Byron Stewart
Katie Donahue (1978-1979)..... Robin Rose
Bill Donahue (1978-1979)..... Jerry Fogel
Nick Vitaglia (1979-1981)..... John Mengatti
Manager Phil Jefferson (1979-1981)..... Russell Phillip Robinson
Wardell Stone (1980-1981)..... Larry Flash Jenkins
Jesse B. Mitchell (1980-1981)..... Stoney Jackson
Teddy Rutherford (1980-1981)..... Wolfe Perry
Eddie Franklin (1980-1981)..... Art Holliday
Paddy Falahey (1980-1981)..... John Laughlin

Got mine at Target today along with A Different World. Used the $5 gift card I got when I bought Fame there last week and got another $5 gift card for buying A Different World. That's how they keep you coming back at Target
