Default Willona & Penny: The Birds & The Bees?

I found the episode of Willona not being able to explain to Penny abt the birds and the bees. Of all the people in the world, Willona would be the one I would expect to be able to tell a young girl, especially Penny, the facts of life. It made no sense. That is so out of character for Willona. I think the writers had to somehow incorporate teen pregnancy into the show and this was the best idea they came up with. Not a very good storyline. So bad. I wonder how they could have done it better.

You would think someone like a bar hoochie like Willona would be able to explain the facts of life to a child without any hesitation. I agree with you, the writers did do a fairly poor job writing on this episode. I think JJ should had been the one to explain the Birds and the Bees to Penny since he is such an expert (dating all of those women)...

Hey I absolutely adore Willona, she is my favorite from the show. But we all know that Miss Woods has been around the block a few times, so naturally we would think that talking about "The Birds and the Bees" would be an easy topic for her to discuss with her child, but that was not the case...

I agree, but maybe the situation was too uncomfortable for her to discuss with her own child; it seems to me she was pretty open with the Evans children with certain topics...

but one would think, hmmm, if i adopt this female child, I will have to educate her abt certain things. One should not have a child if they don't plan on discussing things with them, especially sex.

I liked this episode. Even though I didn't get Willona's point about Penny might end up pregnant like her friend Tina if Willona told her what to do????

I loved Flo's line...."Since when does knowing about sex gets you pregnant.....it's NOT knowing that does it." Amen sister.

And she was all about reading "Sexual Behavior in the Ghetto". Even tried to slip it under her arm.

I think this episode showed the very first argument between Florida and Willona

Yeah, I remember Florida calling Willona "Mother Goose".
"Has got one child and don't know what to do".

Really? I consider their first argument to be when Ray came to town and tried to accost Thelma. Willona got mad when Florida said "Ray's a bum" and went on to say he had done something to Thelma.

That was the funniest part of the episode was Willona and Florida arguing. When they were tussling over that laundry I was laughing out loud.

I do find it funny that they try to play Willona and Florida as though they are the same age. You can tell the age difference between them.
