was the song originally released in 1975? I know it was a #1 hit in 1981 and it very much sounds like a song from 1981. Did he record a version of the song in 1975 and then redid it in 1981?

I think Buffy is right, unless there was an earlier version of the song, I don't think it is that old.

No, the song didn't debut on the radio 30 years ago, it was definitely 1981. And I don't know if I'd say it's still as hot as it was back then.

well, I can understand Alaska's comments, I'd say Jesse's Girls is definately among the 10 most played songs from the 80's that you're still likely to hear in 2005

I wouldn't put it in the top ten. Songs like Madonna's Holiday, Springsteen's Dancing In The Dark, Eurythmics Sweet Dreams, the Stones' Start Me Up etc. are 80s songs you still hear all the time. I realize Jessie's Girl is a popular 80s song, it was a big favorite of mine, but saying it's as hot now as it once was is stretching it a bit.

sounds like you live in a cooler area than I do (of course, you're in NYC, lol). Usually if I hear an 80's song, it's usually Springsteen, Mellencamp, AC/DC (preferrably something on Back In Black) and Jesse's Girl. I almost had to pull off the side of the road last week when I heard "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" on the radio because hearing 80's songs by the likes of Cyndi, Madonna, Janet, Whitney, Olivia, Sheena is almost unheard of here.

If Jessie's girl has a younger sister, send her my way.

I don't hear a lot of 80s Prince so it's not that much cooler, but I guess being that NYC is urban, when the pop or urban stations play something 80s you'll likely hear Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam than you would Rick Springfield.

I heard it on Entertainment Tonight, Your right about not being 30 my mistake, also Mary Hart said 'that the song is still hot and still playing after all these years", thats where I got the source from.

Okay, now it all makes sense. That sounds very much like an Entertainment Tonight statement, to claim that it's still hot.
