Default Was there a time you felt Esther Rolle OVERACTED?

In the episode, "Where Have All the Doctors Gone?", I think Esther went a little overboard when she was asking the doctor to come to the house and check on Penny, and Flo was like PLLLLLEEEEEEAAAAZZZZZZEEE!!!!!!

I was like, alright, Flo you acting like Penny 'bout to die any minute. JMO

There were a couple of times. You can even hear some of the audience members laughing at her at some of the actions she makes sometimes.

I thought she did. But Willona did more.

Even when John Amos was trying to make his uneducated character sound articulate was overacting.

That's a good one. Another show I'd forgotten about.

"Oh baby you're burning up" Tell me, where was Willona at? Penny is sick and she is staying over at the Evanses.

Wait, Flo asking a doctor to come to the ghetto, when they don't even get a cop to go over there right away, a pizza guy? a taxi? LMAO!!!!

Yeah, that was tooooo damn much of Flo acting right there. You thought Penny had been hit by a car or something.

Ive always thought Florida over acted. She was a great actress but she put too much emphasis on everything.

Esther was great with the dramatic parts, but sometimes it didn't call for all that drama, like in "Judy Cohen" when she found out where Michael was singing she said, " A BAR!!!!!!!! You would of thought Michael rob the bar or something the way she jumped up. Still love her tho.

This wasn't was dramatic, but when she was worried about Michael getting beat up by Eddie. Even saying thathe might be lying in the gutter. Michael walks in and she flies over there as if he's a child. James even said it, "Stop babyfying the boy". Come to think of it, I can see why he acted that way on the show. Bringing home bullies and winos.

If anyone overacted was J.J. His antics were so overdone that I can why Esther Rolle and John Amos got upset with the producers and writers.

Esther Rolle was truly an outstanding actress. She played Florida with truth and realism. She was not a phony TV mom.
