Sad Meredith MacRae (1944-2000)

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Television actress Meredith MacRae, best known as a talk show host and for her role as Billie Jo in the series ``Petticoat Junction,'' died of brain cancer, her publicist said.

MacRae died at her home in the coastal suburb of Manhattan Beach. She was 56.

The oldest of four children, MacRae, who died Friday, was born into a show business family. Her mother is actress Sheila MacRae, and Meredith MacRae made her screen debut alongside her father Gordon MacRae in the 1953 film ``By the Light Of The Silvery Moon.''

She became a regular as in the series ``My Three Sons'' in the 1960s as a girlfriend of one of the sons. She later had a starring role as Billie Jo Bradley in ``Petticoat Junction.''

In the 1980s, she co-hosted the Los Angeles talk show ''Mid-Morning L.A.''

She is survived by her husband, Phil Neal, her daughter, Allison Mullavey, her mother, a sister and two brothers as well as two stepsons.

Meredith was so lovely and so charming.I feel terrible that we should lose such a wonderful person at such a young age.She had such a nice smile, and such beautiful blonde hair. Her singing was beautiful and I admire her for involvement in worthy causes. My heart goes out to Allison especially.

I saw her on a talk show one time, I forget which one. It was about living with an alcoholic, as her father was one. It was sad, but I could sort of identify, since my mother was an alcholic. It was sad and sad she dies young.

Could someone please post a picture of her (preferably from her hey-days) so we can see exactly who this thread is about?

Meredith could be attractive...

but was not exactly a great beauty...

She was very bright--see her performance with Linda Kaye Henning in their all-star Family Feud appearance. But she was the least interesting Billie Jo of the three. When she came on board, the original 1963 personalities of Bobbie Jo and Billie Jo effectively switched a la Freaky Friday.

Threads aren't deleted or come down as you put it unless there's a good reason for it and being almost 15 years old doesn't qualify as one.

When one of the fans went to see Linda Kaye Henning recently, the subject of Meredith brought her to tears. They were very close. We can only imagine the pain Meredith's mom felt when she lost her.

The loss of Meredith brings sadness to her fans to this day. She was a lively spirit, whether on game shows or whatever, and someone we admired and thought of very highly.

Everybody knows that Ms. MacRae id dead. It's NOT news anymore that's why it should come down. ANY thread that's way out of date should be removed. Same goes for the thread about Charles Lanes passing. It's old news.

In order for a thread to be deleted there has to be a valid reason for it and like I said before age doesn't qualify. If it did then there would be a lot of obit (and other) threads that would need to be removed from this site. If you disagree and believe threads should be deleted because of age then submit your idea here on the site feedback and suggestions board.

One good thing about being dead a long time, you can look at Meredith with lust again and the picture above does just that. Yowza!
