Default HamBurglar, Mayor McCheese Remember...

Why oh why are these characters from the old McDonald's commercials and ads not visible anymore? I miss seeing them. My kids look at me funny when I mentioned this to them. they were like What????? with this "duh" look on their faces. Does anyone else remember these characters? There was also a big purple character, I can't recall his name, anyone remember? No, it's not Barney.

Hmm I think I remember them. They still show them on signs for toys and stuff at McDonald's sometimes.

Mayor McCheese is a Scientologist! He was just on Conan O'Brien a few months back talking about it.

But seriously I do remember all those characters! That bird (I forget her name), Grimace, Hamburglar, those Fries- I don't know if they had names!

I also remember really cool toys they had (like playground toys) they had at some McDonald's. There was one really cool thing where it was like a jail thing high up. You'd climb up it in the center and then the top it was like a circular tunnel you'd crawl around, but it had like jail bars on it so you could look out!

What's a better time than this to show this picture I have! This is my dad on stage with Ronald McDonald at one of his shows back in 1987 we went to. As you can see my dad is the only adult on stage with all the kids. He's wearing a paper bag on his head (a McDonald's bag obviously!) and he's trying to write something on there I believe. I don't remember much about it since I was only 3 or 4, but it was pretty funny I guess!

Hey, wasn't there a guy with a head shaped as a moon or something?? He'd drive around space in this convertable car or something. Maybe I'm going crazy- but I remember there was a guy with a moon head. Hmm, maybe another fast food chain? I could have sworn it was McDonald's though.

Oh, I remember all the characters you just named though

yes, I believe that was Mac Tonight? I think that was his name. I know there was another name I called him when I was little. Maybe that's what I called him. I know who you mean though.

I believe there was also a character named "Big Mac" who like Mayor McCheese had a burger shaped head. I also think he was dressed as police officer, since someone had to deal with the Hamburgler.

There were also the Goblins, who were later renamed The Fry Guys.

It's scary the things you remember.
