Default Do you wear a helmet?

Lately I've been seeing alot of young people riding motorcycles and bicycling without a helmet on. As a bicyclist I never wore a helmet as a young kid but now that I'm older I would go out with one on.

So tell me Do you wear a helmet?

I don't ride bikes, so I don't wear a helmet. One of my former co-workers lost her 9-year old son 14 years ago. He was riding his bike without a helmet and got hit by a car. He died of head trauma. My friend found out later that wearing a bike helmet reduces the risk of serious head and brain injury by 85%.

Like Janice, I don't ride so therefore i'd look pretty dumb driving around in my Camry wearing a helmet.

But it pisses me off to see people, espeically on motorcycles, not wear helmets. Too risky for me. It should be a law that children have to wear helmets when riding bikes; parents should have to pay if they do'nt make their kids wear 'em.

I'm a safety freak though

You'll be pissed at me then. If I'm going on a short trip on my motorcycle I won't wear a helmet. Long ones I do. And I've heard all the stats about how a person is more likely to get into an accident closer to home. Hard headed I guess.

I think in some cities it's law that kids have to wear a helmet when on a bike.

I never wore a helmet when I was a kid, and I consider myself lucky I was never hurt since I did some pretty dangerous stuff on my bikes.

Nowadays I wear a helmet when I ride my bike in NYC. Most of you know that about four years ago I had a bad crash on my bike and broke my left collarbone. If I wasn't wearing a helmet, I probably would have cracked my skull open.

I have a helmet for when I bike, but I don't always wear one -- I have pretty long hair (6+ inches past my shoulders, about as long as Lorelai's in my avatar) and I like putting it in a high bun, not a low ponytail when I go biking. When I put it in a high bun, the back of my neck doesn't sweat as much when I go biking...BUT if I wear a helmet, I have to put it in a low ponytail and the back of my shirt gets drenched in my neck sweat. I wish I had a helmet that would conform to my hair...

I remember that. I'm glad you're wearing a helmet these days. The next step is to lose the beerholder attached to those handlebars.

I never wear a helmet when I ride my bike, but I don't ride it often and I usually go to a park that's close to my house to ride.

I would def. wear a helmet if I had a motorcycle though.
