Default SHOULD A BICYCLIST BE CHARGED WITH MANSLAUGHTER? YOU DECIDE...

BICYCLIST RAN STOP SIGN
PEDESTRIAN WALKING IN "UNMARKED" CROSSWALK

Ore. Bicyclist Charged With Manslaughter
Sep 12 12:21 PM US/Eastern

CORVALLIS, Ore.

A bicyclist was charged with manslaughter after he ran through a stop sign and struck and killed a 71-year-old woman, police said Monday.

Jean Calder died at Good Samaritan Hospital after she was struck Friday night as she crossed a street at an unmarked crosswalk, Corvallis police Capt. Ron Noble said.

Christopher A. Lightning, 51, was charged with manslaughter and reckless driving.

"A car and a bicycle are both vehicles and if they are operated in a way that could be criminal, then charges are filed equally in both situations," Noble said. "He was going right through a stop sign."

Lightning was being housed in Benton County jail with bail set at $57,500. He will be given a court-appointed lawyer at his arraignment in Benton County.

yes, bicyclists have to obey traffic rules just as much as car drivers do.

I don't recall asking for help with my typing. LOL LOL LOL LOL
Things annoy me abt certain "things" but I don't complain. I just post abt the subject at hand. Nothing else. I don't berate others typing, their grammar etc. That's against the rules. even if it WASN'T, I still wouldn't do it.

it's pretty much common courtesy online that you don't type in all caps because it's more or less the same as yelling at someone. it's like someone walking up to you on the street and shouting the question at you rather than just asking. i think you think it creates some effect of importance for your topics but really it's just an eye sore.

I'm pretty sure that typing the subject line in all caps is acceptable, but I'll double check.

Um, you think it's an eyesore. No one else has told me anything. And besides, I don't recall saying that my titles are more important to anyone else's. As a matter of fact, I type in all caps in titles as a habit. Being a paralegal and drafting documents, it's a legal form of typing. Nothing else. I happen to find myself typing in legal form at times. Whenever I use the word ABOUT, i type it like this: abt. At times when I use the word REGARDING I may use: re I have kinda stopped using RE because some posters didn't understand that word. It's not something I am doing to irritate you or anyone else. It's my form of typing that's all. Common sense says I am not shouting, merely highlighting a title. I can see your point if I did it in my post. I have no disrespect towards you.

Like I said, I'll check on it. If there's no rule, there's no problem.
