Default Was Silver Spoons better with......

Jason Bateman from 1982 to 1984 or with Alfonso Riberio from 84 and after? Asking because I just found out Tonight that Alfonso Riberio was only added because Bateman left the show in 84. So did u like the show more before 84 or after 84?

He was just a great character. Very sneaky and underhanded. I hated him growing up, but grew to appreciate him as I got older. Ribero was too goody two shoes.

Alfonso Riberio is a very talented guy, I even saw him on Broadway as a child in TheTap Dance Kid.

But Justin Bateman's character was just so much better in general.
I even think people stole his attitude in the creation of new TV characters.

I always thought Alfonso got the part because of the 1984 infamous Pepsi commercial with Michael Jackson.

I think that came after and it was Pepsi, not Coke.

I guess I'm a little torn between the two -- the two characters were so different. Just seems like Bateman's character was there to be the anti-Ricky while there was a good friendship between Ricky and Alfonso.

...besides, we never got to see Derek breakdance.

I wonder if Ricky and Derek was an early version of Zac Morris and Screech from saved by the bell
