Default Do you know how to get something published?

Does anyone know how to go about getting something published? I've been writing plays and have been thinking about getting something published, but I'm not sure exactly how the process goes to get something published? Can it be through a writer's guild or can do you actually have to contact a publisher or a publishing company? Please reply.

I dunno exactly what... but unless you pay a but load of money, don't you have to submit it to publishers and have htem either reject it or not, in other words, take it on as an investment.

You need an agent who has to accept or reject your material, then they have publishers read it to see if they like it.

Thanks for the reply. I didn't know you needed an agent for publishing your material. At least now I know I have to find someone who can be my agent. Does someone have to be qualified to be an agent? Like, does the agent have to have a degree or something or can your agent be like a parent or a relative? Maybe it sounds like a stupid question, but I figure it would be more stupid if I didn't ask. I'm clueless when it comes to publishing.

A lot of writers don't have agents right away. You can still get published if you don't have one, it can just increase your chances if you do though.
Check out the book "Writer's Market". It has alot of publishing houses listed and what their requirements are. It also can help you with how to present your work and on finding an agent.

It has to be a professional, you have to find one who will except first time writers.
