Luckily, it's not affecting me.
But I live about 25 miles North of L.A. and Hollywood.

Power Outages Extend Across L.A. Area

Outages Extend From San Fernando Valley To Downtown

POSTED: 12:53 pm PDT September 12, 2005
UPDATED: 1:47 pm PDT September 12, 2005

LOS ANGELES -- Power officials are reporting more outages Monday afternoon from the San Fernando Valley to downtown Los Angeles.

A major portion of the San Fernando Valley reported outages. Outages in the Valley occurred from Studio City west to Woodland Hills.

Several schools are without power. Students are being kept in classrooms.

Sporadic outages occurred in downtown Los Angeles and the Koreatown area. Traffic lights are out throughout the area.

Emergency services are operating, according to authorities.

Power officials have not said what caused the outages.

Utility officials said the problem might involve an outage at a receiving station that caused a domino effect.

The police department went on "full tactical alert," meaning no officers were allowed to leave duty.

Reminds me of the blackout we had here a few years ago. Hope everything in LA gets back to normal soon.. It was a nightmare for me trying to drive home from work with no traffic lights or anything working, I can't even imagine what it's like for the people in LA.

Gob: There's not a lot of logic to it. It's kind of like on a boat with "Women and children first." I mean, why should they -

LOL, I was dismissed from one class early and my the rest of them were canceled.

My mom said that our power at home only went out for a couple of minutes, however the area where my school is at was out of power for much longer.

I passed through the power plant in Wilmington and it was completely full of black smoke.

Didn't effect us at my office

Traffic will be a nightmare, I am sure. Glad I live close to work, and take the bus.

So, has it been determined yet what has caused it? We here in Michigan and surrounding states had a major blackout a couple of years ago . It was due to something that shut down in Pennsylvania I think. Or was it Canada? I can't remember! But anyway, it was a pain in the a$$. I feel for you people in the blackout area!

Believed to be an accident. Someone pulled a wire or something...
