i assume that you mean me, even though I don't have any Vermouth in me

couple of questions:
  • which version of Windows?
  • i know that you may not know this offhand, but is it a full-duplex soundcard? - how old is the computer?
  • have you double-checked that you have the mic plugged into the right jack on your sound card?
  • have you checked the Volume Controls for both Recording and Playback devices?
..if you double click on the Volume icon by the clock on the taskbar, it should open the Volume controls, make sure the Wave volume isnt turned down- and that there is no check in the "Mute" box, then go to the Options>Properties menu and switch to the Recording controls, make sure mic is selected and turned up

if that doesnt help, i'd suggest this:
Rob Roy
AKA - Scotch Manhattan

1 1/2 oz. Scotch
1/4 oz. Sweet Vermouth
Combine in a shaker with ice. Strain into a Cocktail glass. Garnish with a cherry. Can also be served on ice in a Rocks Glass and built right in the glass.

Robroy, since you're here I've been meaning to ask you a question too. I usually use Musicmatch to rip my cds into mp3 files but lately I've been getting an error message "The Registry checksum failed - GetRecordCount" I have no clue what that is or why it's happening. Any ideas on how to fix it or should I just uninstall/reinstall the program software?

i dont use Musicmatch myself, but that specific error message indicates a corrupted data file - do you get the error when you open MusicMatch, or just when you try to rip cd's?

unless you can find a specific patch for the error on Musicmatch's site, I would just reinstall it

...or you could try another program like CDex

It had been when I ripped, but now it happens when I open Musicmatch. I'll try your suggestion though, thanks for the help, Rob...roy.
