first season theme tune? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Hi, first time poster from England...

Today I received the first season of the US sitcom Night Court. By chance, many years ago I saw a couple of dubbed season 1 episodes on a satellite channel called Kabel 1. The theme tune used during the opening credits on that channel was different to that used in season 2 (Sky never screened the first season) onwards on a Britsih channel Sky 1. The season 2 theme seemed like a re-working of the season 1 theme.

I was very surprised when I put the dvd on to find the season 2 theme playing over the season 1 opening credits which makes me think, did they change them for this release or did Kabel 1 use their own composition for the opening credits?

I do not remember Night Court ever using background music but on the dubbed episodes I noticed that there was some background music and I once saw one of the characters listening to a personal stereo. Playing out of the stereo was the (Kabel 1 version?) opening theme tune. I will have to wait untill I see that episode to see what the english language version has playing out of the stereo.

Any comments on the Night Court theme and theme changes in general would be most welcome.

I noticed that between S1 and S2, in S1, the blue colors in the scenery looked generic as opposed to S2. But a different theme tune in S1? Hmmmm. Are you sure you're not referring to the 3 different closing themes that they used?

Thanks for the reply!!! No, it was definately the opening theme. I think it must have just been one of those things where they channel didn't like the theme tune???

Over here in England when The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was screened they changed the show to The Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles and rerecorded the theme song.
