If you think about it, what kind of good news was in it for Michael? He thought he was smart anyway. Unless he had an interview with the Supreme Court.

I know, they just explained that he was living with Thelma and Keith along with Florida.

No he had turned down the invitation by Keith to move in with him and thelma and said he was going to a community college or something like that

Come to think of it, Mike really had nothing going for him at the time. His character became kind of lame after he stopped with the racist talk.

THe happy ending for Michael was he got to finish college and didn't have to live with the everyday stress of knowing that he was the only one that was going to have to support the family on his back. SInce the whole family seemed to be losers up to that very moment in time.

Knowing that family Michael had some social issue in the dorm and went running home to momma.

Then again circumstances might have all led them back to the ghetto and it could not be summed up in a half hour sitcom. Or the show got canceled right after that episode.
