...whether she could get married or not? How old was she anyway? I'm sure she was in her 20's by then, and you mean to tell me that she needed permission. I guess that was another way of adding Florida to the show.

Also, did Florida receive an ovation or what when she appeared at the door? The audience went nuts when she returned. As always JJ was the dumb one. He walks right in and didn't even see her, LOL.

I read in the 1978 Jet magazine that the audience gave her a 5 min standing ovation when she returned

Some families are raised where it's respectful to get you're parents approval before you get married.

I agree with that, but it is usually the groom to be that asks permission to his future in laws, not the bride.

When you have a strong mother figure I think it's ok to ask your mom, especially if your the only girl and you don't have a father to go to.

That was a powerful entrance and tearful when she saw her children ran to her and said, "Oh my god my babies." Unfortunate part of the whole thing the damage was done to the show by not keeping Esther Rolle when she left.
