I thought about it for awhile (OK, 5 minutes), and decided that although Max was no wallflower, in the end Julie probably got her way.

After watching umpteenth times now, and falling in love with Max as I have. Julie treated the poor guy like a doormat!

He put up with far too much cr*p from her!

He gave her everything he had, she cheated on him and emasculated him and abandoned "their" baby and I think he deserved a cute, enthusiastic blonde who would wear his adjustable ring when he meets her at the duck pond.
