I watch the telethon every year. I think this year they are going to suffer because of Hurricane Katrina.

Unfortunately, they don't give it as much attention in my local market. It used to be a big event, with the whole telethon airing on my CBS affiliate and with local cut-ins by our local news anchors.

Now it's been downgraded. They've moved it to our WB affiliate (which the CBS station owns) and the "local" cut-ins are from elsewhere in the state. Also, they only show a few hours of it, on labor day morning/afternoon. It's like they don't care anymore.

I will watch it for about one hour and make a small donation.
BTW, my Jerry Lewis went to the same school and was in the same grade as my mom.

This link provides the area in which you can watch.

The Jerry Lewis Telethon is nothing to what it was 10-15 years ago, I remember here they use to come out in tuxedos and be there all night. Now they are behind the news desk and hardly never cut in to show the local happenings. This year it will really suffer due to the Hurricane.

Plus most NBC and CBS affiliates do not show much of it anymore due to the U.S. Open Tennis and NBC now has Nascar during Labor Day weekend.
