Thumbs down How much do you wanna bet Clear Channel will censor songs related to New Orleans?

As with 9/11, Clear Channel is likely to ban its stations from playing songs that people might even remotely associate with New Orleans and Hurricane Katrina.

Among the likely candidates: Randy Newman's "Louisiana 1927," about the great flood of that year, "Mr. Bojangles" by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, "Me and Bobby McGee" by Janis Joplin, "Like a Hurricane" by Neil Young, and, of course, "Scenes From and Italian Resaturant" by Billy Joel.

What that song? Because of the lyric, "You put a dime in the box and play a song about New Orleans." Never mind that the song has nothing to with New Orelans and everything about Long Island, but then Clear Channel has been known to get silly.

Katrina and the Waves- Walking On Sunshine. I'm not trying to be funny, but I bet this song disappears from the radio for a long time just because of the artist's name. It still gets played a lot on some stations, but I don't know about now.

I know they're still performing in Europe, I wonder if there will be pressure to change their name now. I remember for a few months after 9-11, people were trying to pressure Anthrax to change their name.

There was actually a New Wave/bar band from the late seventies called Pearl Harbour and the Explosions!

Didn't Scott Ian once joke they were going to change it to "Basket Full Of Puppies?"

Another song you won't be hearing on the radio any time soon - Led Zeppelin's cover of the 1928 blues song "When the Levee Breaks."

I wonder how long it'll be before you next hear "Rock You Like A Hurricane" on the radio

I'm sure we also won't be hearing "Hurricane" by Kim Carnes on any 80's stations anytime soon.

"we have got to run away from the hurricane"

"Rock and Roll Music" by CHuck Berry would have been a candidate for exclusion from Clear Channel stations -"I must admit they had a rockin' band / Man, they were blowin' like a huuricane" - if not for the fact that oldies formats are being dropped all over America anyway.
