Apologies is this had been asked before by others; but namely, that I thought I heard the legendary Henry (Hank) Simms whose voice graced many a "QM Production," doing the openings to the show. Might that be so, or if not, who did?

Yes, that was the voice of Hank Simms, known for announcing the titles of various Quinn Martin shows from the '70s.
