Post Minnesota is not that cold.

I just recently watched the mothers day episode of TGG. Rose travels back home to visit for mothers day. She has a lay over in a bus station, everone in the bus station is in winter clothes and there is a fire burning in the fire place. This is a real laugh for Minnesota. The average temperature for the state during the month of May (mothers day) is 70 degrees. I think maybe the writiers needed to do some research before they sat down and wrote this episode. I live in MN and it always surprises me how many people that don't live here think that it is cold here all year round. We just got through some very hot and sticky weather recently with 90+ degrees and very humid. Oh well that is all I have to say for now dontcha know.

well, if Minnesota is all you know it's probably not that bad. My oldest brother has lived in Minnesota off and on for the past 20 years (and his wife is a native Minnesotan) and when he first moved there, he couldn't believe the ungodly amount of snow. However, after two decades he's used to it.

Well, Miami is certainy not that cold either, but the girls always dressed like it was! Sophia was never without her sweater. They didn't worry about those little details on the show. The one thing that always bothered me is that there were only 3 chairs at the table in a house with 4 women. I know it was for filming purposes, but it's always bugged me.

I'm in North Dakota, so I live next door to Minnesota (in fact, I'm heading to Minnesota on Friday...), and I agree with you. ND/MN both have very similar weather in May but up here it is about 60 - 65ish degrees every year on Mother's Day.

There is also no St. Olaf in MN. That has always bugged me. Whyyyyy did they have to make up a fictional town?

Older people and some people with disabilities have poor circulation so they are always cold, between my grandmother and myself you would think we lived in the middle of Siberia, but, we live right here in CT!!

I think maybe because they were constantly making references about how dumb the residents were -- so they didn't want to offend anyone. LOL

There is a St. Olaf Avenue in Northfield MN. So maybe that's where they came up with St. Olaf??!!

Isn't there a St. Olaf college in Northfield also?
The winters in Minnesota have been very mild the past few years also. Not just for temp. but for snow amounts also. We don't get blizzards here anymore. Go to Buffulo, NY for those. I hate snow anyways.

This might be a bit off topic, but I love the episode when Rose wins the prestigious honor of St. Olaf's Woman of the Year. Three men from the judging panel arrive in Miami from St. Olaf-during a heat wave, no less-and all three are wearing heavy coats, gloves, sweaters and scarves. Then, Rose serves them hot cocoa to drink!!!
