Default Ashlee out-Madonna's Madonna as an actress

Ashlee Simpsons movie debut, Undiscovered, came in at a scant 20th place with $676k, the biggest kick in the groin is that it opened in over 1,000 theaters. Easily taking the bar as the biggest pop star movie flop to date. Madonna has been in some major box office duds like Shanghai Surprise and Swept Away, but neither of those films played more than 300 screens at their "peak". Even Mariah Carey's Glitter has been ridiculed to death for being a bomb, but it didn't play in as many theaters and still grossed more.

Ashlee Simpson's new movie hardly got any publicity, got bad reviews that were buried in the nether pages of the Friday papers (or got buried in the Saturday papers, which are a complete wasteland), and, as the Buffperson mentioned, only played in about three hundred theaters. Undiscovered is appropriately titled.

Is Ashlee even aware that she made the picture?

Don't quit your day job Ashlee.

Wait. What is her day job?

my ideal Ashlee concert...

she brings a big radio onstage with her... flips the channels and "performs" to every song playing. Be it 60's oldies, Easy Listening, Country, Hip Hop or Hard Rock. I'm sure it'd be more fun than her lipsynching to Pieces Of Me, lol.

I didn't even know she made a movie. When the hell did all of this happen? btw, everyone caps on her for lip synching, I can understand, but why don't I hear abt R.Kelly lip synching at the MTV Video awards show??? That was horrendous!!!!!!!! Why would people clap to that?????

hell, aren't most of the female pop singers notorious for lipping in concert? why is Ashlee the butt of the joke while Cher, Britney, Madonna, Janet and others have been lipping certain songs for YEARS in concert and nobody has turned on them over that? It's common knowledge that Cher lipsynched the verses of Believe where it was vocoder in her live shows. Britney, Madonna and Janet sing their slower-tempo songs in concert, but it's well-known that they all lip to the more upbeat numbers that require choreography.

Why are these artists forgiven for it while Ashlee will forever be blackballed for SNL? I'm not a fan of Ashlee's or anything but it seems like a double-standard just because she doesn't have 20+ years of hits behind her.

Ashlee didn't have a very big part in the movie, so I wouldn't really classify it as her movie. The movie wasn't really expecting to make much anyway.

Most of the reviews were actually quite supportive of Ashlee's acting even though they disliked the movie.

"Undiscovered" should have gone directly to HBO or DVD.
