Default Fred Sanford or Archie Bunker, who was funnier when insulting people?

I would say Archie get the edge because he said so much about Mike like him not having a job, him being a meathead, and a mooch. Fred just pretty much said the same things all the time. He called lamont a dummy constantly, Rollo a Theif, and Esther Ugly. Archie said so much more in different ways

Only problem is that half the time Archie insulted somebody he was actually making himself look ignorant and like an ass.

So half the time he was the butt of his own joke.

Fred mostly just ripped people, only looking a bit silly by using the same old putdowns.

Not when he was insulting his wife, but others I agree-like henry jefferson

Fred, hands down. Archie would say offensive stuff that made him look stupid. So you laughed at Archie instead of with him. Fred took it right to you. He could eat you up with an insult and nobody would have a comeback.

so Fred gets my vote "one across the lips"

See Fred was just creative with his jokes. He could say something nobody would think of to say. Plus, Redd Foxx add libbed at times too. Him and Lamont was in that bar in "Happy Birthday, Pop." Lamont said, "This ain't no honkeytonk bar." Fred turned around and said, "Looks like a bunch of honkies to me." LOL That rolled off his toungue I think.

Archie said a lot of funny stuff too. I think it was in that Sammy Davis Jr. Episode where he said something like "God made you allcome from the African continent, and he put us all in the white ones."
