Question Was Bea Arthur justified?

In case you haven't heard, Bea Arthur walked out of the Pamela Anderson roast because of such cruel comments thrown at her (Bea, that is). Do you think that she was right in doing so or do you think that she should have just ignored the jibes?

I didn't hear about this...what did they say???? If they did throw cruel comments at her, then, I don't blame her for walking out!

I don't know if it was true, but Bea Arthur attended Pam Anderson's roast, and some really crude remarks were made at Bea. Some of the things said was that Bea was a man in drag, a transexual, and had a certain man's body part too. I understand if there was a skit or something made ahead of time, but if things were just hurled at her at this event I wouldn't blame her one bit if she did walk out.

Pam Anderson equals two words...tacky...tasteless.

Below is a comment by someone that I found on the 'Net concerning the Pamela Anderson Roast. Trust me - some of the things that they said about Bea Arthur cannot be printed on this site due to language, vulgarity, etc. By the way, I believe that Bea Arthur was at the roast because of her work with Pamela Anderson via P.E.T.A.

Sorry, I guess I'm showing my age (41) - not understanding the contemptible, coarse, and vicious treatment of Bea Arthur. I'm old-fashioned, I believe in respect of older people, especially one who has been a mainstay in the business for decades. It wasn't funny, it was inexcusable. I miss the roasts of the 70's, they were naughty, irreverent, but still had a degree of class and decorum. This show was cruel to the bone, featuring a freak show of has-beens, and utterly contemptible in its venomous black-hearted “humor.” Our entertainment culture just keeps spiraling downward.
