Starting Over

This sitcom is about a recently divorced mom of two girls, who leaves her hubby, Rick (Christopher MacDonald) after he announces he is having an affair and wants to marry his pregnant mistress (Rachel Blanchard). Joan Cusack plays Terri Sutton, the now-single mom who now has moved along with her two daughters to get away from the painful memory of her cheating ex-husband and his pregnant fiancee/mistress. Terri and her ex-husband's two daughters are Chrissy, 21 (Ashley Johnson), and Mallory, 17 (Scarlett Pomers). Chrissy goes to the local community college for cosmetology, as Mallory attends Kennedy High School as a junior. Terri works at the District Attorney's Office, as a secretary. Terri's co-worker and best friend, Assistant District Attorney (ADA) Connie Martell (Marcia Cross) is always around the new Sutton home helping Terri out with advice and offering a helping hand when needed. Connie, just five years ago, went through a divorce, because her hubby got his mistress pregnant. Mallory is looking forward to starting college in a few years, yet not sure of what her future holds for her. Chrissy is learning how the real world is nothing what she had expected. The three Sutton women all start to go on with their lives, after Rick and Terri's divorce. Yet things get hectic, when Rick and Mandi want Chrissy and Mallory to be a part of their lives.
